I've read some explanations. in Ramayana, Valid accused Ram that he hit him(Vali) while he(Vali) focused in something else than Ram. At same time, Ram also justified his act like,Hunter doesn't care whether Animal noticed him or not. (Vali is Vanara.so He was shot based on hunting principles)

By citations we mean quoting the text.
Actually in Mahabharat forum we had a practice of quoting from online versions available in case of debates...😆...n unless we gave proper citations...people did not accept facts...😆
And folktales heard in childhood were not considered authentic...as we relied only on Ved Vyas' text.

I thought people follow the same practice in Ramayan forum as well...but I guess I was wrong...
Anyway...thanks for sharing your knowledge...😊

heyaa Amrita ..
was simply strolling here out of curiosity and saw ua post
hope u remember me! 😳

I haven't read the epic but my grandma used to tell me stories from both epics.. (even now she does)😃 As per my Grandma Raavan comes n when he lifts Dhanush it falls on his hand and he feels humiliated and goes!

And yes this Swayamwar reminded me too of another Swayamwar (esp when all the Kings asked for fighting) 🤔

No, they don't, because apparently this show is not "Ramayan". 😆 CVs themselves have stated that it's not quite Ramayan, but a "different, more modern perspective" on the epic. So no one is bothered about where the stories come from, because half of them are fictional, and the other half from various folklore.

Nowadays it is difficult to say which stories are true...A lot of stories have got ingrained into our minds...

Nowadays it is a trend to make drama out of nowhere...
But citations remove misconceptions...so is always better to give citations...

according to others he tries to sacrifice his life but lord shiva restores him n proving that he was the greatest devotee adding fuel to his ego

some of the important things about ravana is

1) he is considered one of the greatest scholars hence lord ram calls ravana himself to set the time for the war in which lord ram kills him

2)once parvathi accused lord shiva of living in himalaya and she did not have a proper home hence lord shiva borrowed gold from kubera and built lanka and they invited ravana to perform gruhapravesham after all the rituals ravana asks lanka as his dakshina and thats how he gets to become the king of lanka (this story is told in shiva purana)

Very interesting. Thanks for the info.😊

well i didn't came across this part in valmiki ramayan at all but it is present in tulsidas version. actually there was no organised swayamwar. here is the citation :
" Not one of all the royal band
Could raise or take the bow in hand.
The suitors' puny might I spurned,
And back the feeble princes turned.
Enraged thereat, the warriors met,
With force combined my town beset.
Stung to the heart with scorn and shame,
With war and threats they madly came,
Besieged my peaceful walls, and long
To Mithil did grievous wrong.
There, wasting all, a year they lay,
And brought my treasures to decay,
Filling my soul, O Hermit chief,
With bitter woe and hopeless grief.
At last by long-wrought penance I
Won favour with the Gods on high,
Who with my labours well content
A four-fold host to aid me sent.
Then swift the baffled heroes fled
To all the winds discomfited--
Wrong-doers, with their lords and host,
And all their valour's idle boast.
This heavenly bow, exceeding bright,
These youths shall see, O Anchorite.
Then if young Rma's hand can string
The bow that baffled lord and king,
To him I give, as I have sworn,
My Sit, not of woman born.'"
it says lot of suitors came every year but ravan's name is not at all mentioned.

If u c Ramanand's Ramayan, Ravan actually wasn't shown at Swayamvar but later when he kidnapped Sita, Hanuman n Angad did tell him that he was unable 2 win at d Swayamvar. So that means he was present as far as epic goes.
