The actor playing Ravan has great screen presence and delivers quite a punch...! However, Ravan is being painted with very broad strokes, very unidimensional, and is a bit filmy even. Would be good if they played it more subtle and less obvious. Subtle can be just as powerful.

Aww, Bert!
Welcome to the forum.🤗

Loved the actor from the interviews. Yesterday, he failed to live up to my expectations in the Mithila scene. He was pretty good otherwise in the Lanka scenes. Suddenly, he looked too filmy...and out of place amongst Malyavan and Janak. I really liked Malyavan, BTW.

I guess the actor will take some time to settle into character...or it must be a necessity to appear filmy, given Ravan's boisterous traits.😆

Kartik needs time to be settle into Raavans character as he is all new in this hindi industry he is basically from south industry and also he is learning his hindi lesson too..for making the character real..
but i like his south indian touchy hindi bec it just highlights Lankaa to be belonging to south wards...

Bassically he is filmy...coz makers want it to be filmy as it is not TYPICAL ramayana...its A love story of Ram and sita...with----obviously antogonist Raavana and also we will be witnessing huge...Family drama too..

so as this is not typical mythological show keeping in mind indian telly frame and BARC Trp system they had to put some filmy element too so yayyy

Raavana is going great and in future we woujkd able to see more on it..my POV...

Thanks Chick 🤗

Yes, the contrast with Janak in particular was what made it jarring...he was still fine in the previous epi...the actor playing Janak is so good...and yes, the one playing Malyavan too...!

I completely agree with u
I liked his intro one very much
But in that Mithila scene I was disappointed

And also they need to explore all shades of Ravan
Not just the dark side
As SKR is all about dimensions
But as far as Ravan is concerned they have shown
only his dark side till now

But then, like u and many others pointed
He has problem with language
And also has just entered the show
He needs time to settle down
And even makers need time to explore more of Ravan
So let's wait and watch😉

My problem is not with the accent..!

I simply feel that there has be to a certain uniformity to the quality of performances...otherwise it will stick out like a sore thumb like it did yesterday..!

And it has nothing to with the show being mythological or otherwise..!

Respect your pov of course..!

Hello everyone!! I have been watching Siya Ke Raam since the beginning and really like the new perspective being given to this age-old epic as well as some less known stories being thrown into light here...

As for Raavan, I think Jayaram Karthik is a great actor. I loved him as JK in the kannada serial Ashwini Nakshatra too.He definitely has strong screen presence, a must for a strong character like Raavan. An excellent casting choice, according to me :)

Hello!
I felt the problem with that scene was more with editing than the actor playing Ravan. It was dragged a bit and didn't blend well.

Loved the contrast between the environment polluter who doesn't give any consideration to the land and the earthy, people loving environmentally conscious Mithila vasi! Loved the expressions of Janak and party as they watch the drama.

Re Kartik: really like him but he seems a bit green but feel he needs time to settle in the role. (Unlike Ashish who seems to be made for the role) His accent is something to get used to but I am liking the southern touch.

The accent is actually fine, since it fits the geography. I am sure he will settle down.

As for the shades...I guess we will see that after he abducts Sita, in his scenes with Mandodari and so on...
...Or...They may not want to play around this particular dark character because the trp crowd is not going to accept it, for sure.
