Re: Ravan being one dimensional

This story is from Sita's perspective who is all about Ram as her ver at the moment. I doubt the makers will explore Ravan's character. Will be happy to be surprised if they do.

This post is really not a criticism of the actor...clearly, he is very good...!

But it is incumbent on the creatives to tell the actors at what level they need to pitch their acts so there is overall synergy...!

The issue then is with the writers and the director...!

The accent is actually fine, since it fits the geography. I am sure he will settle down.

As for the shades...I guess we will see that after he abducts Sita, in his scenes with Mandodari and so on...
...Or...They may not want to play around this particular dark character because the trp crowd is not going to accept it, for sure.

Chick...you know what, there is dichotomy right now that is not being underscored...he is a lecherous man and he is a devout Shiv bhakt...his bhakti does not seem different from his desire to possess a woman...maybe it is early days yet...maybe we will see the difference soon...

And the accent appeals actually...it is quite similar to what Ranveer Singh did with Bajirao Mastani...he gave Hindi a distinct Marathi twang to underline the geographic context...so clever casting from that perspective too, I would say!

Hey,
I for one didn't take it as criticism of the actor but healthy discuss about the flaws in the scene.

Last night I was watching some of the on location videos of SKR and realize how the scenes are filmed in tiny fragmented bits. The actors have no control over how the end product will appear. They require a very skillful director to know the vision and the editors to put it all together like a puzzle.

No.. not saying about accent
I mean he is not comfortable with the language
Since it not the most convenient language for him
So his focus can shift to language remembering dialogues etc..etc..
which can be a hurdle in putting forth his 100% unlike his mother tongue
As far as the accent is concerned, I don't have a problem

But I don't think it's for nativity
If we go by this logic
everyone in Lanka including
Mandodari,Malyavan have to maintain that accent
As all are from Lanka

But yes he might get it right as time passes

Hello!

I felt the problem with that scene was more with editing than the actor playing Ravan. It was dragged a bit and didn't blend well.

Loved the contrast between the environment polluter who doesn't give any consideration to the land and the earthy, people loving environmentally conscious Mithila vasi! Loved the expressions of Janak and party as they watch the drama.

Re Kartik: really like him but he seems a bit green but feel he needs time to settle in the role. (Unlike Ashish who seems to be made for the role) His accent is something to get used to but I am liking the southern touch.

This editing problem
I feel in many scenes since a long time
I have mentioned it few times in diff threads
High time they fix it
Yes it's tough with parallel shoots, hectic schedules
But editing is the one that determines the final product
It can enhance/deteriorate a scene
