Word! 👏 This is exactly what I mean. By making Kaikeyi and Ravan seem like typical Star Plus villains, they have reduced the importance of Manthara and Shurpanakha, who like you said were the catalysts to take the story forward.

This Kaikeyi needs no Manthara and this Ravan needs no Shurpanakha.

LakMila scene was a huge facepalm moment for me. I expected their scene to be dignified even while bickering...but it was plain childish!
Its only the freshness which the actors bring, the melodious bgs, the art direction which are appealing.

This is the only reason many people are watching. I for one know lots of people in my friends' circle who are saying they love the art direction of the show and are watching it for the landscapes of Mithila. To an extent, even though they too are too modern at times, Ram-Sita scenes are not too bad. They lack subtlety but at least Sita still blushes and looks demure around Ram.

Urmila's behavior is totally outrageous! She and Lakshman can still share a light-hearted and humorous relationship while also being more in tune with those times.

It's really not asking for much. 🥱

it turns out, manthara wants ram sita to be married cause she thinks kaikeyi can control sita because sita is from mithila, a weak kingdom and not the daughter of janak, poor manthara, even hearing about sita she didn't understood her divinity. good thing is, kaikeyi didn't listen to her and she still wants to stop the wedding and ram will try to make her understand. so, my headache reguarding this is lessened.

but, raavan's naag aatig will be stoped by ram, that's bad because prematurely the conflict bitween ram and raavan will start because of it.

Raavan sending someone to mithila - i dont know but I watched it when i was young in a telugu movie acted and directed by legendary NTR . My grand mother told me that incident was there in Bhaskara ramayan another regional version of ramayan.

He sends a demon who takes the form of sita and appears in front of Rama when he is in the garden. It is lakshman who recognises and kills him.
In ranganatha ramayan ,another telugu version, lord rama takes the energy from Parashuram indicating that its the avatara samapti for parashuram. Different versions in different languages but no distortions like this. 😊

There was nothing much in Valmiki Ramayan about Urmila. Even in Ramcharitmanas. It was criticised by modern day poets and in Hindi Maithili Sharan Gupt wrote exclusively about Urmila.
Ramayan is about a human where as Mahabharat is about humanity. These serial makers are taking out the essense of the epics and showing unnecessary things for trps. 😭

Deeply disappointed by the twists and turns this show is taking.. Yes I call it a show. Because this is no longer a mytho. I have my grandparents who watch any mytho serial/film on television religiously.. They are frustrated like many people here in this forum.

What's with Manthara advising Kaikeyi that Sita being from a weak kingdom can be controlled easily.. And Kaikeyi asking Bharat whom he would choose between her and Ram.. Is this a saas bahu soap where the conniving saas asks the dutiful beta to choose between her and wife.. At this rate, they will show saas bahu drama in Ayodhya.

What's with Ravan sending a snake to Mithila.. As if we all are lamenting the absence of snakes on television.. Ichchadaris are the in thing nowadays.. Every serial has to have one ichchadari naag/nagin/nevla/tiger etc.. And now in SKR also ? And what does the snake do .. He doesn't bite. He causes a jal pralay when Ram and Sita are having their private conversation and milan.. This takes some imagination...

I know there are n number of versions of Ramayan. With all due respect, pls ..pls let us know in which version of Ramayan all these things have been written. I am pretty sure this version must have originally been co-authored by two people - both with knowledge of inner happenings and dialogue baazi in the ancient palaces of Ayodhya and Mithila.. Only those with unparalleled access to Ayodhya and Mithila can have knowledge of such palace intrigue and politics.

The direction in which this serial is heading - downright ridiculous! This show has now become a saas bahu soap.

People file cases against historical shows when they show wrong things. Why can't someone file a case against a mythological show that is cooking up nonsense in the name of Ramayana?
