The problem began when that conversation happened inside the house. Kunal knew Mauli lives along with Mishti & it was the night time. He should have been a careful when talking about this. Home was definitely not the right place for that conversation. Or he should have come to talk when Mishti would have not been around. There are a lot of conversations elders do when children are not around, so that they don't hear something suddenly on their own & make an impression about it. Mishti listened to that conversation & made an impression about it. Not her fault, any person in her position would have done that upon this huge revelation. You don't do such a big conversation when you are around children with a possibility of being overheard. Even if Kunal was shouting on the top of his voice, Mauli should have taken this conversation outside at that moment to avoid this sudden bomb dropping on the child.
Now comes Mauli. Mauli's own insecurity bring the worst out of her at this moment. Can't blame her but she needs to put behind her own judgments about Kunal & let Mishti make her own judgments rather than imposing hers on Mishti. Tell Mishti the basic truth, she will definitely understand that if told in a mature way, but let her see things for herself. Put a little faith in the child rather than being all protective that leads to building of toxicity & unhealthy emotional & mental state of a person.
Difference between Pari & Mishti is pretty evident. Mishti even though grew pampered now knows about a father who left her mother & questioned her existence at the drop of hat, never to return back & see if what he did was wrong or not. And suddenly he comes back to claim rights on her. She had a perfect image of a healthy family & people who always loved her but this sudden revelation destroyed it & now she is angry. She is doing what anyone in her position would do. Not her fault. Mishti would have not liked Kunal even if he had came alone after years for the initial days or if she had known about Kunal's existence as her father. Kunal's existence remained hidden from Mishti & she saw Ishaan as a father.
Pari on the other hand knows that both her parents loved her & her mother died a natural death & loved her immensely. She knows how her father loved her mother for years. So, there is a perfectly healthy image in Pari's mind about her parents & her family. Pari's image is still very intact. Pari doesn't know the other side of truth while Mishti knows it. Pari doesn't know that Mishti is her step-sister. She doesn't know that her buddy was married to Mauli Aunty before her mother. She doesn't know how her own parents relation came into existence and when she comes to know of it & is mature enough to understand the gravity, she will be disgusted with what her parents did & feel for Mauli on a different level. Kunal-Mauli didn't separate because of differences, they separated because of Kunal's infidelity. This one fact is enough for any child to have reduced respect for their cheating parent.
There is huge difference between both. Mishti is a victim of situations created by Kunal while Pari is a victim of situations created naturally. So, Kunal is Mishti's culprit, there is no one as Pari's culprit. Pari's mom hasn't been wronged by her father. While Mishti's mom has been wronged. She would have hated Kunal anyway whenever she would have come to know the truth for what he did.
There is a huge difference in psyche of children who grew up alone without a parent who died when they were early & those whose parents divorced even before they were born or when they were young. So, Mishti & Pari can't be compared & their situations can't be compared.
Mishti's anger stems from the fact that her father not only left her mother & her but also has a daughter with a different woman. And now, that daughter for some reasons feels that Mishti should stay best friends with her despite everything. Even if Mauli tells her the entire truth, even then Mishti can't let go a basic fact that Kunal cheated her mom with her best friend. And that will hatch a natural form of dislike.
What was Nandini thinking when she made that request to Mauli about Pari becoming her responsibility now. Did she think of Mauli a social worker who would just accept a child whose existence reminds her of how she & her own daughter was wronged? She could have easily gone with Kunal to move on with anyone, but why specifically give Mauli that responsibility, when you know you hurt that woman beyond anything.
Mauli & Mishti need to have a conversation where Mishti should know certain things & no matter how much suger-coating Mauli does, the truth is ugly & that will remain. Pari need to be made to understand that she can not expect unconditional friendship from Mishti now. Pari will have to bear the brunt of what her mother did to Mauli under the charade of friendship. She can't erase her mother's actions when it comes to Mishti. Mishti will always a subconscious thought that Pari's mom cheated my mom & she can do the same. There will be natural distrust from Mishti's side for Pari. That's natural psychological development. No amount of convincing can make Mishti forget it. Mishti must not be forced to accept Pari or Kunal for that matter. But she must be told to not misbehave with any of them. Ishaan as a father is imprinted hard on her mind. It's Kunal who barged in later. And Kunal as a rational man should not be imposing his fatherhood on Mishti, every now & then. What's the problem if she thinks of Ishaan as a father. Ishaan isn't horrible. Mauli needs to move on & away from this common household. As long as she is there, there will be problems. It's actually wise if Pari & Mishti stay away from each other. Mauli can form a good rapport with Pari but not expect Mishti to do the same. Best she can do is teach her to behave decently around them.
KRPKAB dealt with this track very beautifully with Suhana, Dev & Sonakshi, but then Dev didn't do anything like Kunal there. Atleast Dev has a clean record unlike Kunal who comes with infidelity tagged with him.
