'm going to disagree here. She does put Shaurya in his place, but she really does hold back in severity. She even asked Anokhi to play a bridge between them, even though its within Aastha's personality to directly confront. You mentioned how her accident must have made her mortality more real to her in an earlier review. I think that's the reason why Aastha has let Shaurya talk back to her in the hospital room as well as at the post-birthday party. She falls weak because of her love for her son.
Yes to the Shakhi and Shastha comparison. I had the same thought. ShaKhi had that same conversation post-confession. It seemed like ShaKhi was built to follow the same path.....but Shakhi was not as weak as Shastha.
When i was looking at this scene, I was looking at a mother who refused to confront her son because of her guilt or her belief that he was 'better off'. Every interaction they have had before she was shot either she has called him out on his unfairness or not had an answer because of her decisions. But look closely, mostly when he has done something wrong, she has stood up to knock some sense into him.
When she does not speak up, its because she knows she has wronged him. She is not weak, she owes that silence to him because there is no defense for what she did. Each time Shaurya was rude to her after her being shot, Anokhi went on a rampage but Aastha knew why. While Anokhi may think its weakness, Aastha knows its her guilt and her hope that stops her from speaking up in a loud manner.
Or i am just salty about the bad parenting. It makes me feel very bad and also how they were whitewashed. (Could be my bias )
