At least you read!! That's what matters!!

OS 1 : amazing! I actually loved the fact that someone made Ms. Kapoor ask why? Why Anokhi? Infact you know, idk why they never focused on this during the show as naturally her heart (if involved) and her who both would have been hurt. How did a man who she had been in relationship for 2 years, change in such short span of time and now was irrevocably in love with a student? "A pindu". Very beautifully written and very mature writing in fact. Honestly Devi would have reacted this way to Shagun for sure because Devi is too classy. She plays with emotions and does not involve herself in cheap stunts. You captured that so beautifully. I could actually imagine Alka Ma'am acting this piece out! ❤️

I always wondered the same!! Why isn't Shagun asking Shaurya about this!? So I just put my thoughts into words, that's it! 😃

OMG! That is a big compliment! That means I stuck to Devi's character 👍🏼

OS2: First of all, thankyou for not making them bff's. I am 💯 sure bogo and nikki will never be bffs. This one felt very real. Infact how you showed kitty warming up to anokhi and not so much bebo was very well in sync with the characters. Bebo Anmol , thanks for touching that important story and making her dump him and also touching up on an important issue at the same time.

I can never see Bebo-Kitty as bffs with Anokhi. LOL.

I always felt Kitty was slightly better than Bebo. Slightly.

And honestly, Bebo-Anmol was my long lost khwahish!! I want to know what was the plan for them!? 😆

OS3: yash and kanchannnnnn.....I read it and went...aweeeeeeeeee!!!!! It was mature yes, but also like a slow burn adorable romance. Arrange marriage in such a house where there is a star son must be hard on yash and kanchan both. The way she explained her story and her issues... amazing! Very well written where in I could feel her frustrating building up.

Another thing I loved was the subtle telling of shakhi's life through kanchan's eyes. Her heart pinches bit she wishes them well. These are the stories we deserve , people being happy for people.

The way you slowly turned yash around, the slow buildup with all changes Nikki got to the house reflecting in characters was something I liked most actually. The effort yash put❤️...we all had been waiting! And honestly, even I always felt this guy might be the cheesey shy types😆

Wow! I am so happy to see you guys react so positively to Kanchan and Yash! I definitely wasn't expecting that!!

I think she kept quiet as long as she didn't know the real picture. But I think she knew that she has to speak up before the Sabherwals make her a doormat.

"Ver well written" is a compliment I am gonna take with me even to my grave!! I love knowing that my writing could impress yo somehow!

I am so so so happy to know that Yash was well accepted. I mean, in the show his character didn't express much... So, when I started writing this chapter, I wasn't sure how to shape him. Now that you have mentioned him in detail, I am glad to know that I could mould him into something you as a reader could accept!

Also, please tell me how should I address you...

Thank you so much...!!

Love,

Akshu ❤️

Devi Sabherwal's reactions and dialogues were so spot on! I went WOW! She was crisp and true to her nature.

I will come back and comment more.

Thank you Deepa!

I think yes. I haven't seen any other Shagun fanfic either. Most of them here don't like Shagun 2.0 😆

Aww! That is a very big compliment for me. Glad I could do justice to Devi's portrayal.. 😛

Will be waiting for your more! 👍🏼

I don't know either. I would have loved to see Yash in ShaKhi's wedding. In fact, even Raja...! I would have loved to see a small scene of Raja-Mr. Bhalla-Shaurya. But alas!

Thank you so much. I am hoping for Season 2 ❤️

I love seeing Kanchan's point of view as a Sabherwal bahu, having to deal with everyone's expectations. I loved her confrontation with Yash. I love seeing Yash's efforts towards Kanchan. And that Kanchan and Anokhi conversation had me cackling!! We needed more of this devrani/jethani releationship in the show. It's so funny how Kanchan was so open when it came to ShaKhi but so reserved in her own relationship and asking for what she wanted. I loved us getting some ShaKhi glimpses from Kanchan's view. I would've liked to see a Shaurya/Kanchan interaction written by you!!

Who do we get next?? Another Sabherwal? Or maybe the reject couple from the last poll...Ahir and Babli!!😆

I think Anju’s autocorrect is going bonkers. Reject= Real and by that she means Ahir and Shaurya 🤩😎🔥

Hi Pratiksha 🤗

This is so beautifully penned down. I am happy for Kanchan, she took stand fo herself. Yash also started to change, the moments between KaYa were extremely heart warming, the cheesy lines, the lemon chicken wala homely date and the western outfit....soo cute. Gayatri and Yash taking stand for Kanchan was ❤️

Thank you!! I was always rooting for Gayatri to speak up for Kanchan. As a DIL, Gayatri has experienced lots of indifference from the Sabherwals, I wanted her to stop the same happening to Kanchan. But, chodo... 😒

The fact that ShaKhi were adorable, but every couple have their own essence....I loved how Kanchan had her share of sweet memories to cherish at the end. I admired Kanchan in the show as she never stopped supporting ShaKhi even when she was not blessed with such a respectful, loving, caring relationship. Purest of human beings implicitly become envious in such cases, but she remained grounded despite feeling the pang. Anokhi and Kanchan helping each other like sisters was ❤️

How true! Every couple has their own journey. Their own struggles to gain happiness. I wanted Kanchan to have that sense and work on her relationship. Also, I didn't make her envy anything close to toxic. I wanted it to be wistful and hopeful. Something she admires and wants for herself.

I also liked how you made Kanchan shut off her mother while the baby talk was on going. This is an absolute personal choice. Desi parents and relatives sometimes nag the couples to the extremes. Thanks for addressing this issue.

Yep. Kanchan is a modern woman, a strong woman who knows what is right for her and her marriage. She felt that her marriage wasn't 'normal' and she decided not to bring a child until she worked to make it normal.

However, if you could show Kanchan thinking doing household chores all day is sort of boring and thinking of rejuvenating her career in event management would have been great (her colorful, vibrant personality suits this profession, hence chose this as her major. Remember, she came to see the SIAC fest arrangements?). Shaurya noticing her absentminded behavior and having a discussion on this with offering her a tea on a lazy evening would have been a fresh change. As Kanchan always understood Shaurya, it would have been really nice to see how Shaurya also treat her as a sister and cares about her state of mind. He could also propose Kanchan to work with Babli as it a known, considerate business partner will be helpful for her to manage the household chores and events.

I understand the point. But my aim was to show Kanchan as an emotionally empowered woman who finally had her husband's support as well. I did have an idea to do something like this but then I was re-watching the episodes and realized that Kanchan had accepted to become a housewife after marrying into Sabherwal Family.

Some women have no problem becoming a housewife, so maybe along with normalizing ambitious working woman, maybe we should stop stereotyping ALL housewives as a 'bechari' and 'majboor' bahu. Some are actually happy to be housewives.

Bhavi Di, Anju, Rumi, What do you guys think about it?

And I think we had plenty of Shaurya-Kanchan bonding so I tried to focus more on Anokhi-Kanchan bonding... I could definitely add something for them, but then the chapter would have been too lengthy...

I would also like to know Yash-Shaurya equation. Although his "I am not Shaurya vaia" depicts his insecurities, yet further elaboration could help. How always Shaurya being the smartest kid of the family was in the center of attention affected needed to be explored. Being Devi's son and doing what a Sabherwal should do also earned Shaurya bonus points. Whatever Yash did, it seemed lesser than what Shaurya did and thus, he did not join SIAC and rather decided to go work in a MNC at Delhi to avoid this life long comparison. A convo with Kanchan on topic after their relationship became warm would have been great. Anokhi-Kanchan making plans (picnic, shopping, movie, PC game match) for 4 of them to break the ice of awkwardness between the brothers and finally the brothers warming up to each other like sibling brothers would have been really cute.

Damn! I just realized there is so much I can do but time constraints are a pain in the a**!! 😭 But you are right these ideas are amazing! smiley20

I loved how u incorporate ShaKhi moments. Their lunch date on weekend, the long passionate night, Anokhi managing household chores and studies together, Shaurya fighting for his wife, their dance, his whisper, Anokhi's blushing amd smacking his arm...all are so ShaKhi like. You did superb here. I could literally imagine DebVir acing those scenes with their crackling chemistry. The research journal discussion sitting on the lap of hubby is a real thing. Once I marry my fiance, we are going to do that for sure. We do that even now, but more on zoom calls and sometimes upon meeting. This actually touched my chord. Thanks for the idea though.

Once again, a brilliant piece, Akshu. Do write more. Thanks for the tag 😃❤️

Love,

Pratz

Thank you so so so much! I am trying to include ShaKhi everywhere possible!! And I am happy to see that you are noticing it!! Trust me, while writing the journal reading part, I was actually picturing the scene in my head too!! 😆

Thank you for reading and thank you for your honest review. I loved reading it, and I promise to do better next time... 🤗

Hinting at Anokhi and Shaurya having a passionate night and her funny walk made me go on a tangent and thinking when are we getting one such take for our passionate couple. Soon maybe.

But back to kanchan Yash, I could feel the sadness and envy of Kanchan when she compared hers and Anokhi's marriage.

Not everyone is lucky to marry the love of their life.

I also like the part about having a child when one is ready for it and not to please the family.

The way it took time for both Kanchan and Yash to realise they need to work on their marriage is feasible. Maybe Anokhi and Shaurya were the catalyst required for them to realise what they could have.

I really loved the gradual buildup and the realistic approach.

Looking forward to some more reading....

Woah! I hope it was upto your expectation!

You're right about that! In the initial episodes, I realized that their relationship lacked depth and Yash was too self-absorbed to see that while Kanchan struggled with the household drama Devi created.

Ohhhh! ShaKhi chapter is on it's way alright... It will be there somewhere down the line... I promise! Just stick with me for a few more chapters!! 😳

You had me on my knees at "realistic" 🤗 That is the greatest compliment I always aim for!! Thank you!

Wonderful feedback from Pratiksha!

I agree with both of you. What one wants to be or not be is of course a personal choice. Many women are happy to work and many are happy to stay at home. As someone who did both,I have no regrets at all. I am grateful for the time I got to take care of my kid. Could I have managed juggling a demanding career, chores and a baby? Yes! I had helpers, and a social circle of friends I could count on. I could’ve managed and had it all..But I wasn’t happy. As simple as that! So I did what I needed to do and it was great!

Now that my kid is older, I’m back to the daily grind.😀 I know many are not as fortunate to simply quit and take a break, some are pressured into working, just like some are pressured into not working.

Like in Kanchan’s case, she willingly had to give up her career ambitions ( or whatever was left of it) when she got married into the Sabh household. Now let’s imagine if the Sabh’s had no such absurd rule that the Daughters -in-law of the house shouldn’t work, do you think Kanchan would sit around whiling away her potential? I don’t think so.

She would’ve definitely pursued her passion, maybe started a small business or may have even studied further.

In purple 💜

Loved the Kanchan- Yash story Akshu! As always you keep it real , something that we can imagine happening I perhaps in Season 2 😁❤️. In the show , Kanchan plays the sweet yet sometimes dull headed Sabherwal Bahu. She’s always been playful( with Shakhi 😄) and its refreshing that we finally get to see her ( and Yash’s ) romantic side. 😍🙌 But what I really liked is that after Anokhi’s entrance in the Sabh house, everybody seems to be getting ballsy-er with BM 😂 . She had it coming!
Yash and Kanchan have so much potential to be explored as a side story. Thanks for this Akshu!

I have sooooooooo many feelings on this subject.

I love ambition. I love independence. But more than anything I love freedom of choice!

I'm on the same wavelength with you Akshu. I fully believe that in-home working deserve the same respect that out-of-home working. The choice to get married or to be homemaker, or to have children, or to work should all get the same respect as long it's a personal choice free from any force.

As for Kanchan, she mentioned that she made that choice when she decided to marry into the Sabherwal family. It's a choice she accepted. But she also has every right to change her mind if she wants to as well. Marriage is not a locked in contract for life that you need to follow word for word and never grow and change as an individual.

I do agree that in fiction, the routine of housework and being a homemaker for females is shown as boring. So to add spice, they bring in the kitchen politics. And if it's a female that works outside the home, then the conflict is balancing the two. ITV needs to get more creative in creating drama for their shows. Notice how this is not the case for men. You rarely see a story of a homemaker that's male. You rarely see a working male having to balance work and home(or even kids). So what is going on in society is reflected in ITV unfortunately.

The case of the 'unhappy' housewife needs to be dismissed just like the 'neglectful' working wife. We're all unique individuals and we shouldn't accept cookie cutter and stereotypical saas-bahu shows. Which we clearly don't since we're all saakk fans and appreciate the uniqueness of our show's storytelling.

I'm going to stop my lecturing tone and get down from my soapbox!

I loved reading your analysis of this chapter too Prats!! You're very thorough and I appreciate that as a fellow reader of this series.
