Many years ago, a wise and learned friend told me that he was into meditation and Spirituality. My eyes grew as large as flying saucers and then his voice sank many octaves as he continued to talk or maybe tried telepathy but was wasted on a creature like me.

Rather than bobbing my head in assent like a trained dodo and with nary a clue as to what was being said or better imparted to me, I mumbled, ' Sorry, onnum kekkala'.

The wise, learned and recently divorced friend sighed and consoled himself and his expressions and body language reminded me of my Maths teachers from 1st to 10th std when they realized I did not know how to do simple divisions and sadly bungled and sucked at even subtractions.

I blessed him with my goofy, charming smile and joker expression that I had used on my maths, physics and chemistry teachers and had escaped intact without any injuries, and he hemmed and hawed, and wearing a divine look that would have shamed even the Famous and late NTR while he donned his various Krishna and Narayana avatars, told me that I was still stuck behind the veil of Maya.

Seriously, the moment he used the word Maya, the only word that popped up in my head was " Paya, steaming Appams and coconut milk " and I smiled like a junkie high after his first fix for the day.

My friend clapped his hands and exclaimed, ' See, what my presence and words do to your psyche and your rudimental soul. The very word Maya has evoked some ancient birth memory and connection and you are glowing in some Divine anandham.'

My eyes teared up in emotion as his mother who was lying in the diwan decided to relieve herself of some noble gases that she had created in her intestines and insides.

Holding my breath and with tears in my eyes, I bid him goodbye and he drowning in his own maya, touched my head, blessed me and said, ' Come visit me regularly and I will impart the secrets of Kundalini to you and train you to raise it out its maya.'

Still holding my breath and my guard against the Gases that were spreading around the small hall and threatened to escalate into another " Bhopal Tragedy " I nodded and ran to the door in a strange alien manner.

Just as I closed the door behind me, I heard my divorced friend tell his mother that he had done well by raising the veil of Maya on my soul and his old mother from the hiding of the mosquito veil decided to add to the problem of Global warming single handedly.

I am sure that must have raised my friend's veil on his Maya and his illusions about grandeur and spirituality.

I thought, ' dei, forget raising my Kundalini and concentrate on rousing and raising your mother and ask her to go to the loo.

I have more of these Maya stories and all of them are true.

That reminds me of a wise and learned friend who once told me that he had the power to make Rain happen.

Well, he shut me up and I haven't opened my gob since then.

Spiritual story............

Once there was a doll made from salt. She journeyed for miles and miles until she stopped at the edge of the sea.

The doll fell in love with the vibrant waves, the ceaseless swaying motion of the water, the rise and fall of the tides and a beautiful blueness of liquid it had never see before. She was fascinated and wanted to know all about it and experience it.

She asked the sea..... What are you? Tell me while I stand on the shore!!

You won't know anything about me until you come in and experience it for yourself... Said the sea.

So the doll jumped into the sea and waded in. It felt nice so she waded deeper and deeper into the sea. The further it went, the more it dissolved until the last bit of salt dissolved and disappeared.

The doll exclaimed in wonder and happiness...... Now I know what am!!!

Who am I... Is a question every philosopher in every age has asked right from ancient civilizations like the Atlantis and the mu... Through ancient Egypt ,greece, india and china. Most of us are like the salt doll who want to know spirituality through other people's experiencesby standing on the shores of Supreme reality and not plunging into it.

The following a metaphor for the ignorant soul seeking spiritual awakening. The sea is a metaphor for the Supreme reality. It is only when we wholeheartedly plunge into the sea of spiritualilty that we know who we are... Where do we go from here.. And what is our final destination.

To merge so much with the divine that you see only divinity everywhere and in everything.. Like the doll who dissolved her own identity.. That's spirituality. To become one and dissolve in God's ocean of love, that's spirituality. To be finally washed away from the mundane hum-drum rut of this shadow-play ..this Maya.. We call life..... That's spirituality.

Mind you, you don't need to give up anything..... Live a full and happy life according to your karmas but at every moment hold on to the divine supreme reality from where we all have come , and where we all must return to merge with the divine!!🙏
