The loud growling noises were ominous and Madhu who lay on top of him, placed her hands on his chest, and sitting on his muscled abdomen looked at him with eyes full of concern.
' Jaanu, when did you have your last meal?'
Ravi looked at her with a blank expression and after struggling for a few moments, replied, ' I am not sure ' and thinking hard, told her, ' I know that I did not eat anything today but for the few cups of coffee and as for yesterday, well, I kind of vaguely remember something.'

She looked at him with hungry eyes and asked, ' Why did you wait all these years? Why?'
' Because I knew in my heart that we would find ourselves once again and that our time would eventually come to us.'
Her eyes were full of tears and her voice quivered like a blade of grass when she spoke and asked him never to leave her side.
' Promise me, Jaanu. Promise that we will stay together as one, come what may.'
He kissed his promise through his mouth and swore his promise through his breath and she cried sweet tears of joy. For now.
For soon there will come a time when salt will triumph over sweetness and joy and fate will play by dealing its final ace into their lives.
