'Tanya and CHitrashi,
Very well presented the aftereffects of one of the most regressive policies of modern Indian-the great Reservation saga.It is is a step back as far us as a nation is concerned, much exploited by the polity and the society.
Reservations can never be a solution or a way forward for unifying the society it does nothing but bifurcate us even more, the candidate who gets through via a reserved seat is further allienated from his peers as he is often judged and mocked. has it unabled us to see every socially backward person get educated, or has it changed the society mindset?
Vote bank politics has futher widened the gaps in the society now regionalism is another prolitical gimmick which is well exploited.Vacant reserved category seats in IITs and other elite institutes narrate the whole story .
Rather than narrowing down opportunities at the highest level, we should focus on providing a level playing field, educate every child irrespective of its caste, religion etc.
A proession like medicine which is soley based on ones' skills and talent and has tremendous risk factors attached to it should be made free of reservation rather set up economic aid to the deserving and needy candidates. A mere 5-10% of total general competitive seats seriously raises the questions about the efficiency of these doctors.
It pains to see that in this age and era we as a society are moving backwards, y do i see a rise in social evils and murkiness of Indian politics ready to clip the wings of India once again.
See it is Govts duty to bring more transparency and reforms in Medical education, it is IMC and IMA's job to regulate and account for medical practices and at last it is a Doctor's duty to stay true to his/her oath.
