If Aamir had done this show free of cost,he would have made many mroe fans and would have set a good example for others to follow. There is no disputing that, no?! At the end of theday, it's agood showand very much needed for all Indian people to see and understand the problems facing India. Jai Hind.

I didn't ask anyone to leave, like I said m just tiered of this discussion which isnt going anywhere. And m fine wid opinions as long as the person isn't trying to shove his/ her opinion down my throat:)
And abt dng a show for free, I am sure had he done the show for free ppl wud have accused him of publicizing it too. Bottom line is those who want to bash him wud have bashed him no matter what.

@Natalie

You hit the nail on its head! If he had done it for free even then people would have asked why is he promoting it so much or doing it for free is also some ''ghapla'' or publicity stunt!🤢 They would have tried to investigate ''scams'' in that case too!😲

Bashers only need an excuse to bash! Just as some social workers and journos are bashing him because they think he's doing what they do every day and they are frustrated why they don't get attention which an Aamir is getting!😡 [They have no other reason to bash except this flimsy one!]

Had he done another game show, people would have laughed and bashed him asking how the hell is he different from others. Today he is doing different stuff they ask why he's doing it!

The truth is that such shows do make an impact - they do jolt people and especially if a film star does it, then people get still angrier! Everyone expected Satyamev Jayate to fail, but now they cannot digest its success and even its real life impact. Hence the blabbering! And anything Aamir does, gets greeted with resentment because he was quite media-unfriendly for 16 years and still does not do PR. So label whatever he does as fake or concoct 10,000 conspiracy theories!🤢

@ annika Social workers shd be greatful to him ... he is teaching people how to become activists.
If an activist sets out to reform the society ... isnt he gonna benefit from the awarness spread by Aamir ?
For years Tv shows did nothing but discuss the problems of society giving no way out and giving no solution . Aamir suggested such a simple thing ... he said 'give exempilary punishment' I'll write to CM of Rajasthan ... If 2 lakh 20 lakh 200 lakh people write to cm ... will he sit quiet.
Do people realise activists spend their life highlighint issues and here all the work is being donr for them.
He is teaching the common people ABC of activism.
Activists do the same thing ... what Aamir is now teaching .. they write letters to concerned authorities , try to highlight issue in local area , try to gather public support , sign petitions , take out morcha's ... etc...

@ mitzification

Totally true! 😊 Common people don't believe that there is any issue to be addressed. Everyone is mostly like we don't do it, or it's just stuff of one or two newspaper reports. But if a show like SMJ highlights it and if a popular star like Aamir Khan talks about it along with real life victims from different strata of society - then it makes common citizens acknowledge that the problem exists and pervades everywhere!
Activists keep trying hard to convince people or get attention for their rallies. But no one really takes them seriously. Thanks to such shows, people can realise activists are talking for some reason only! Even NGOs and activists' work will get more recognition!

Otherwise, people even find sinister motives when someone asks them to sign a petition!😆

Those who think we know it all are mistaken. In reality, people do need to be taught ABC no matter how (bookish) educated they are!

Aamir is doing just that and doing it fabulously well!

BTW, I am more SHOCKED at likes of Curious discussing money made by Aamir, rather than the issue itself. People like her defeat the intent of the show. It's a shame that one of the largest threads in this forum is NOT about the issue put up but about reported salary of its host and producer! A huge LOL at public mentality! Worse than Aamir. They are indicting Aamir, but are themselves neither working on any cause and not even paying attention to the issue raised in the show!😲

No offense meant m just tiered of ur arguments esp when u r not even considering the facts that we shared wid u.
Natalie.

I have seen every episode of Friends many times so trust me I know what you are talking about.If your inspiration is joe then this thread is not for you. I am sorry I will ignore all messages posted by you on this thread. Unlike you for me this is a serious matter and not just a sitcom.

@Curious

If it were indeed a serious matter for you then you would have talked about issues not about the maker's fees. Who're you trying to fool here, eh?

Did you give any constructive ideas on how Satyamev Jayate could have made more impact in real life? Did you check threads with news about the show's impact felt in 2 states already? If you were serious indeed then you wouldn't have talked about this ''issue'' alone!😆

Hi all, the unfortunate reality of todays world is that we the common people are affected by celebrities a lot no matter where we live. So they needed a celebrity to host a show with good intentions. Aamir I think is perfect for it. He maybe charging a lot of money for it I have heard but I am sure he must be working hard to earn it. TBH, if other member of the SMJ team would have hosted the show, so many people would not tune in. Which is sad in a way because the issues are as important no matter who is the host. But a star is needed the way the society works. And I think Aamir is the best choice of all we have. There is nothing superficial about that guy.

No point convincing someone who is cynical.Some people cannot appreciate positive things in life and for them the glass is always half empty and never half full. Their whole outlook is pessimistic and negative.
Amir never ever claimed he is doing charity or that he was a messiah to save the country.He is an actor/producer doing his job and doing it with a conscious.He could have made masala TV shows and earned more.He being a celebrity picked up a social cause .
It was certainly infotainment instead of entertainment as one of the news channels have put it.He is doing the job of mainstream news media and is being socially responsible.In fact it is a piece of fine journalism and journalists do not do things for free.
Opinions of individuals who belittle genuine efforts of others and maintain that only self-interest motivates human behavior, and who do not believe that people do things out of sincerity, human virtue, or passion are disinclined to rely on reality and are in a state of denial and are irrational.
Leave them alone with their pride and their prejudices.
