Hey everyone!

How's it going? It is Thursday March 24, 2011 morning and we're supposed to be in the beginning of spring season but looks like we're still in winter. Anyway, I did not start this post to talk about weather and who wants to talk about crappy weather anyway.

Anyway!!! I was curious about why do you guys/gals watch SGP?

Since I started this post, I will start with answering my own question.

  1. I watch it because when I watch SGP, I go to bed with a smile on my face. This not only makes me sleep well but I also get pleasant dreams. It's better than having "I wonder what the saas will do to her bahu in tomorrow's episode" thought right before going to bed. We all have some sort of dramas going on in our lives and with other shows (no offence to the fans of other shows), I always wonder that since we all have our fair share of dramas going on in our lives, so why do we need to be worried about someone else dramas? And that too for someone who doesn't even know that I exist!!!"
  2. SGP is different from other shows, not only in terms of putting a smile on one's face, but also in terms of vamps. I mean there's not one person in this show that's plotting against another one. I mean other than Panna's MIL, but she doesn't plot against her, she just doesn't like her; which is normal. I mean, you don't have to like everyone in your life.
  3. And SGP doesn't waste 5-10 minutes of having that shocking sequences in each episode.
  4. And SGP members don't talk to themselves.
  5. Most importantly, I watch SGP because it teaches you about love and happiness. Even Panna and her MIL's relationship is teaching us that not everyone in your life will love you and not everyone in your life will smile with you, but the best way to deal with it is through a smile. It's teaching us that there is more power in a smile than there is in a frown because it's a smile that will help you win anything in this world and frown will keep you away not only from the person you dislike, but also from those who you love. Plus it's easier to smile at others than to frown.

I don't know who, but someone in this forum has the following saying to their signature:

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."

And this is so true.

So now that I have listed why I watch it, please share your answers with others as I'm sure there are other curious members too on this forum who wants to know why SGP?

you must be living in north america....as we are also buried under snow or so it seems
liked your post....light humour with veins of real life serious issues.
liked point 4, because in a show that has now gone.... the protagonist talked to herself 90% of time....
yrkkh pratigya...too many black and white characters....too good or too bad....people are shades of grey and noone is perfect....
ragini is real and rings a bell as my wedding was somewhat the same vein... she is learning and growing. and are willing to accept each other regardless...the characters are growing on us.... they have issues and fights but work it out, rather than carrying a grudge on and on....
love the show and the underlying innocence ofthis saas bahu saas relations.

I'm from Alberta. Where are you from?
I'm glad you liked point 4 of my post. And I don't like grey shade characters. For me, it has to be either white or black, period; no in between. And that's what you get to see in SGP.

Loved your post, it's Laxmi, signature you quoted, she is our most beloved member!
Agree with all your points, I love SGP for Ragini and the simplicity of the story, it's nit easy to tell a simple story , it takes more guts to keep your simplicity in this materialistic and artificial TV world, although I don't watch other serials but have got a pretty good idea what goes on,SGP I can relate to, I love Suhana and Badi maa to bits, every time I see them I am with my late mother. SGP brings smiles and tears both the essence of life.

Beautiful post Madhoo....

I love SGP for its simplest way of telling how life is and how it should be... its way of showing benefits of staying together which we don't see nowadays.... its star cast which is an asset of SGP... its script.... even its background score..... In short I love SGP bcz it is close to reality of life...
