How's it going? It is Thursday March 24, 2011 morning and we're supposed to be in the beginning of spring season but looks like we're still in winter. Anyway, I did not start this post to talk about weather and who wants to talk about crappy weather anyway.

Anyway!!! I was curious about why do you guys/gals watch SGP?

Since I started this post, I will start with answering my own question.

  1. I watch it because when I watch SGP, I go to bed with a smile on my face. This not only makes me sleep well but I also get pleasant dreams. It's better than having "I wonder what the saas will do to her bahu in tomorrow's episode" thought right before going to bed. We all have some sort of dramas going on in our lives and with other shows (no offence to the fans of other shows), I always wonder that since we all have our fair share of dramas going on in our lives, so why do we need to be worried about someone else dramas? And that too for someone who doesn't even know that I exist!!!"
  2. SGP is different from other shows, not only in terms of putting a smile on one's face, but also in terms of vamps. I mean there's not one person in this show that's plotting against another one. I mean other than Panna's MIL, but she doesn't plot against her, she just doesn't like her; which is normal. I mean, you don't have to like everyone in your life.
  3. And SGP doesn't waste 5-10 minutes of having that shocking sequences in each episode.
  4. And SGP members don't talk to themselves.
  5. Most importantly, I watch SGP because it teaches you about love and happiness. Even Panna and her MIL's relationship is teaching us that not everyone in your life will love you and not everyone in your life will smile with you, but the best way to deal with it is through a smile. It's teaching us that there is more power in a smile than there is in a frown because it's a smile that will help you win anything in this world and frown will keep you away not only from the person you dislike, but also from those who you love. Plus it's easier to smile at others than to frown.

I don't know who, but someone in this forum has the following saying to their signature:

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."

And this is so true.

So now that I have listed why I watch it, please share your answers with others as I'm sure there are other curious members too on this forum who wants to know why SGP?

Agreed dear. Everything you've said is so true. So nicely put. I loved the fact that all the actors play their part so naturaly, no matter how good the wirting is, if the actors fails to perform then good writing is wasted. Great acting makes the scenes more believable, you get to feel and understand them, their predicaments, their sorrows, joys and their battles. Such high quality writing (most scenes) and classy performances makes it more relatable which is why I find myself glued to the TV when SGP is on.

I never thought I would be so attatched to a FICTIONAL programme. I used to laugh at the thought of being a relgious fan of any serial, but then when SGP came along, I have become addicted. Even in its worst phase I continued to watch because for me even then it was better than the rest.

I thoroughly enjoy all the dialogues they say, they are all so simple, yet so true, yet so effective. Okay, I'll stop now because I could go on and on and you'll get bored...

oh all of you are just awesome!! All your comments, your reasons for watching SGP, it's great!! I'm loving to learn that those who are watching SGP are actually learning so much from it. There's so much positive stuff to say about SGP and I, along with everyone else on this forum, can go on and on talking about it and yet, the list would never end and we would never get tired about it.
There's something unique about each character of this show; be it be Panna's MIL, our beautiful Manju Aunty, Ishaan, Suhana, BM, RB, Rano, Alok, Inder, Rajni..... and the list goes on and on....
Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts with us.

Everyone has said all the reasons but I'll put it in my words :P

I love how SGP has soo many unique characters and relationship and we can relate to them soo well. I love all the relationships that SGP portrays!

I love Inder-Panna relationship, it is seriously teaching me the value of having an older brother! 😳

Suhana and her mother's relationship: she loves her mom soo much and misses her soo much (this is sooo natural)…it really does show the value of mother and the things that suhana missed out on because her mom passed away early on😃

suhana and Badima relationship, wonderfully portrayed – both are wonderful actors! Loved how badi ma makes suhana understand things so calmly. Wouldn't everyone love to have a saas like badi-ma?😳

Alok – love his character to the core. He is portrayed as an ideal figure. Love the relationship that he shares with everyone!😛

These are just few of the many relationships that SGP shows us but whatever it shows, we can relate to ti.

There has to be at least one character with whom everyone can relate to…that is, a serious person like radha bua, full of life like suhana, bholu like ishaan, responsible like inder and alok, witty like alok, caring and calm like badi ma, confident like panna, naughty like elesh, working women like panna and disha, housewife like rajni, rano, badi ma;

Thank you SGP for giving us wonderful characters!

SGP is an unique show, where there is love, you can change a person with love and patience only.....No plotting characters in SGP, even though Panna MIL is negetive character, she hurts panna with her words, but never try to plot to hurt or kill panna....

Kahsypas who accpeted their bahu as their son even though their son left them.. given her all the respect and love she deserves.. (dadaji-dadiji -badimaa).. Alok (a brother) who took the household responsiblity and spend his each penny on whole family.....

A family who accpeted their bahu (suhana) with love and adjusted with her and forgiven all her faults.. and a MIL became a mother to his DIL..

All characters from suhana, ishaan, badimaa, alok, dada-dadi, inder, elesh, rano, rajini, disha, RB-Deepak, KK, Sanjana, meena, panna.. all characters have their own flavour ....

Thanks to the Ravi Sir and all the technicians... for giving us such a wonderful family.. SGP

Here are my reasons-

1. I love SGP because its so natural 😳. It goes by the fact 'no body is perfect' which most of the CV's forget. For eg- Akshara ( no offence) is a perfect bahu 🥱. She tries to fix everything on her own and even succeedes in it unlike Suhana. Everyone can relate to it.
2. There are no amps or villains ( I was about to write vampires 😆) . I was tired of seeing all that. Firstly, vamps destroy everything and then the bahu fixes everything🥱 . Come on..Is this the reality. I have never seen something of this kind in my life.
3.Like the person above my post said, all the characters have their own flavour. Everybody is perfectly blended in their characters. 😳😳

here is why i like SGP😊

I like SGP for it family and values it shows. They are very simple and like any of us. We can easily relate to them. I for one basically watch the show for the family first and then for the leads. But the leads are also a part of the family.
Love all the characters. I believe each one of us can learn atleast one thing from each of the character.
I love all the relationship they have shown, Sushaan, Suhana-Badi Maa, KK-Suhana, Alok-badi maa...every relation they have shown is beautiful...
i love the entire family..both kashyaps and bajpai...😃
Every char...Suhana, ishaan, badi maa, alok, kk, dada-dadi, inder & co...all are given equal importance....
SGP always make me feel happy. hence this is the only show i watch.😃

Heya,

Madhoo I applaud you for starting a great discussion topic and I love points 4 & 5 especially!! 😆 classique yet so true!

I dont know if there is much more to add from my side as everyone here as pretty much summed it all up.😛

Still I will add a bit which I already mentioned in an earlier post today. I guess SGP is like a plate of our favourite dish. Theres the balance of all the right flavours in one dish, which makes it just purrffect!!👍🏼

I have and continue to learn a lot from the show, especially from Suhana's character. How she went from one type of lifestyle to the other and trying to adjust to it. Everytime I visit India I have hard time adjusting with the lifestyle and the people. Now these people happen to be my relos but they all pretty much live like joint family and often I feel like theres no space to breathe and no privacy, lack of independence, etc etc..It gets soo annoying but Suhana has shown us that with time it is possible to live and adjust in an environment as such and to value family relations.😳

And so like this there are so many important lessons SGP has taught us and continue to do so....

Well thats all from me now.

Ciao,
Shonia

BTW Madhoo while you are approaching the beautiful season of spring we here in Oz are moving towards gloomy and coolish autumn🤔

Oh my!! All of these comments is bringing tears to my eyes, happy tears!! This is why SGP!! It is so unique!! The relationships, not just Ishaan and Suhana's but everyone's relationship; be it be Dada, Dadi with BM, Kashyap family's iW*H RB, Alok's with Inder, Elesh, Ishaan, Rajni-Disha-Suhana, Suhana-Meethi, Doly Didi and Gopi Kaka's relationship with everyone, etc., any relationship in this show is portrayed very beatifully.
And Shonia, we're suppose to be approaching spring, but believe me, we're no where close to it. Yeh Upar Wala pata nahi kahan se itni jyadi snow le aye hai, aur ab par dali ja rahe hai, dali ja rahe hai, dali ja rahe hai 😔.
Anyone wants to have a snow ball fight with me 😃

snow ball fight sounds so good and gets rid of tension without causing damage....anytime..
after reading all the posts. i think the reason we like the show is that although there are all kinds of characters.... from manju to raunaks mom....inder sanjana to suhana and sm...
badi ma.... it is the dynamics and how the characters meld together so well... they have had issues but worked it out,....may not be perfect but good nevertheless.
love the suhana dad....and dada chemistry
the sis in laws
alok and badima....
suhana and alok....mimic him....etc...
we should not change the track and read so much about wby the c track and crying...but we have to admit...life is not always fair....
all i hope for is that if she does have an illness, more family bonding and how she recovers from it with love and prayers from all her admirers....on and off screen...
my only request is to keep basanti away....but she might play a role...cvs seem to love her... and that is more scary a thought.
dhoop chawn....had great honeymoon , family episodes but it cannot be sunshine daily....
over 10 cms of snow.....comes, like it or not.....! or what is the saying... as long as it is overcome with suhanas trademark smile.... all is well.
i wish badima and bajpayee connected.... they are so even keel wonderful people and will be her biggest support....
anchors of the 2 families...
