Excellent post Arshi! It really topped of the episode nicely! 👏
Alas we see the benefits of being a (former) sanyaasi. The self reflection Saras is doing is phenomenal... We can see it shine through is persona internally and externally.
Again, I really have to say WOW to the characterization of Saras. To show you the extent of my awe, I would like to tell you that one of my absolute favourite films is "the Godfather" because of the excellent portrayal of the many inner and outer dimensions of Michael Corleone. The self reflection, the rigorous inner change and it's manifestation physically through his actions, his words were so relatable... so apt to reality.
And since I've watched "the Godfather" the first time around, I've never been fully satisfied with any characterization of any protagonist... until Saraswatichandra came around, of course. The fascination of watching Saras is equivalent to Michael Corleone for me. Just the message that comes across with Saras; the strong will, rationality, and tenderness attached to the storm of emotions that is he are so brilliant to watch! His characterization really does go through each and every fibre of Saras' being... and I still don't know how Gautam manages to live Saras so well. 👏
For me, today's episode was just another part of "The Hero's Journey." Saraswatichandra is doing his own deep reflection... going through his "inner cave" as Joseph Campbell describes in his study describing the "Hero with a Million Faces" and he's coming out of it triumphant: a rational, all-knowing man. Today was another episode that highlighted why this show is about the male lead, and I've been left with a very satisfactory taste. Well done CVs for such banging portrayal, well done Gautam Rode for breathing Saras, and well done Arshi for topping off my cake of delight with such a garnishing post! 😳
It is turning out to be quite a story isn't it! Of two people who are fighting the most difficult kind of battles there are - those of the mind, fighting with self, for their loved ones, battles that are invisible to others, yet go to shape our lives and our destinies!
And Saras is a complex character, far more than Kumud, for his actions have to be judged not on their own merit, but always in the context of his past.
It's a character who is continuously being chased by the demons of his path and is slowly progressively learning to stand strong and face them.
I often wonder what made team SLB narrow down on Gautam? How did they know that he would live Saras this way, with all his fears, phobias, goodness, weaknesses, and all the shades and hues?
I am sure he has exceeded their expectations! I, for one day after day continue to be surprised by both - Gautam the actor and Saras the character!
And I think another strength of the show lies in attracting people like you all, I learn something new every day every episode!
Thanks for the info on " the heros journey" - completely new for me, and what I read on the wiki just now has just whetted my appetite for more! I need to read up more on this! Thanks Veera
