You're good with words. You cleared the air by explaining the connotations because I am one of those who tend to interchange ego and pride sometimes and have used 'egoistic' to describe Kumud in some of my posts. And while I still maintain that her pride was bordering on ego when she refused to thank Saras for saving her father's life, we can't forget that an event doesn't determine a person's character, it has to build and culture through a span of time. Kumud, characteristically, is proud for all the right reasons. However, that one incident when her pride went overboard does not make her a brat.
Yes, they will clash, but not because of arrogance or ego, but because they have too much respect for themselves as individuals.-
^^You've made a beautiful interpretation there. Will look forward to your posts.

I've read a few of your posts on other forums and I must say you're quite insightful and you're able to put things into perspective quite well...

Kumud is a very realistic character and I find it very easy to relate to her...she's not egoistic but yes she is proud and that pride in herself is very much warranted...contrary to what a few people may think, Kumud has achieved a few milestones that too in a village as small as Ratnanagri and that alone is something to be proud about...not to mention she is the pride of the family and not without good reason...she's the kind of daughter that parents are blessed to have...you can also sense that she's a very empathetic individual, how else did she determine the look in Sara's eyes as those with depths of pain and for that reason accepts the proposal...she wants to share his pain...those are not characteristics of an egoistic individual...but yes she does have a tendency to tread that fine line but only when it comes to Saras...

nicely written sangeeta di👏

Kumud and Saras both have pride in them, not ego. If Kumud was arrogant, she wouldn't be dying for Saras' forgiveness especially when she wasn't even wrong..it was not like she intentionally and knowingly made Saras relive the most painful side of his life...it was a mere innocent prank..it's not her fault that she didn't know about Saras' past!! yet she is taking everything on her...she said she couldn't have made this mistake despite unknowingly...now no arrogant or egoistic person would say and feel so, would they?

no offence intended

seems like you aren't really watching the show other than posting in the frustration thread😆

Kumud is the only graduate female in her town, she has fought against so called intellects to bring computers in her village, wherein not many girls are educated, she is a school teacher...her parents, her father especially and her whole family are proud of her...if these aren't achievements, then I wonder what actually are?🤔 ...and Kumud is proud about her achievements and she should be.

I am afraid Kumud has both these qualities. I cannot comment on Saras yet because there isn't much to go on.

Her pride is bruised along with her EGO. They both are actually interconnected... too much pride becomes ego...

I have to agree though, they will not allow people to walk all over them. Neither will they let their families come to any harm.

Thanks jammy (BTW, is your ID based on Asad's nickname in QH?) At this point, I see more pride in her. She is proud of who she is and has tremendous respect for her family. saras's family sent the marriage proposal and then Saras turned around and rejected her. This was a big insult to her as a woman and an insult to her family. That's why she has been acting this way. If she were arrogant or egoistic, she would have never said; Main tho rishta thodna chaahti thi, maine tho usee ko thod diya. These are not words of an egoistic woman

well, for a woman in a small village like Ratnagiri, she has achieved quite a lot. And if she was arrogant, she would never ask for forgiveness and be so remorseful

If you want arrogance...see Asad Ahmed Khan in QH😃

and some people think Kumud keeps saying "he rejected without seeing my face", but that's not because she has a pride in her beauty but because Saras' family sent the proposal first then he himself sent the reject letter without even meeting her...by "mera cehra dekhe bina" she meant without even knowing/seeing her, how could they change their decisions wherein they were the ones to send the proposal in the first place?? but seems like either some people are too blinded by hatred or are incapable of misunderstanding the depth of the characters/emotions.

Di, you write so beautifully! Loved how you said that. Both the characters do take pride in who they are and what they are. Kumud may have made a mistake and taken her pride a step forward, but at least she had the decency to accept the fact she made a mistake- I think for her that is a huge stepping stone. And I really do hope Saras forgives her one day because he genuinely feels that he should.

Beautiful topic :) Always loved reading your topics since DMG days as a silent viewer!!

I'm glad you showed the connotations of pride and ego so simply because coming to this forum and reading numerous monotonous topics on both the characters, especially on Kumud, was getting really frustrating. 😳 Kumud is definitely a prideful woman but with a small hint of ego, which I personally don't see as a bad thing. It's only human nature to be a little egoistic at times, no? However, their characters may be, they're very similar to each other and are head-to-head when it comes to pride. That's exactly what sets them apart from any other duo I've seen before.
