Bravo dear friend , you survived the whole novel 👏

This is worst than devdas, there was only phase 1 in DD and I was weeping buckets when I saw it and SC has 4 long depressive phases and Mr. Bhansali expects me to tag along all through 😲

Any ways coming back to SC novel , I wouldnt have survived after the first renouncement itself, what kind of guy who is madly in love with out of the world beautiful gal (apparently) can renounce the world 😲 (he needs to be tested in the first place)
I didnt understood devdas also and now SC joins the list , well I havnt got the hang of all the names after almost 1 week , still cant understand when bombay can change to dubai , then why SC can not change to sid/samar/sameer 😉

To be very frank , I am not very much impressed with SC till now , cant see any thing beyond GR's brows (damn SLB,y did you have to make that damn portrait with those eyebrows , they are just etched in my head) I am gonna hate SLB for the rest of my life , he is not making me look beyond eye brows .
No comments on kumud though ,she is a carbon-copy of nandini , has 4 dots also on the neck

Thanks for the awesome summary ,

P.S: what is with SLB and tragic love stories ?

^^ Ya the novel suits SLB's kinda stories.

Couple never get together but end up with someone else.

And tradition always wins.

So I am ready to accept that he will stick to the story.

ok.. honestly this novel was based on time when there were more restrictions on women if we see.. I think if they have to show this kind of stuff in 2013 , they wud definately try to change what seems a very regressive thinking. I cud only find your line on morality and woman.. I wud rather watch kumud going against world for her love in the end...as she deserves best too...lets see how SLB tackles issue here..

I agree to that.

a) sad love stories sell better

b) sadness (separations) keep the story going with audience's undying hope of bringing the lovers together

c) He would stick to the main theme.. me quite sure.. if he doesn't then story won't have much to offer .. in terms of drama and extending the serial to 5 years

Ha ha ... i did din I.

Thank you for the appreciation..

And I agree, first 4 episodes, I am not impressed with the series.. His eyebrows is one point .. and then when in everyframe pitched against every other character.. the short small him.. he just looks so weak as a character .. ( sthg with visualization) .. I haven't been able to warm up to him as a character..

Kumud again is dissapointing.. I hope as series progresses it grows on me .. to me Jenny is not bringing in the nuances of the character .. she could be just any character in any serial ...

I wonder if its the wrong casting or if its the direction and script , even side characters don't impress me.. I am still in trying mode... think / hope everthing should gel in well eventually ..

SLB n tragic stores : he he, i think like most of the sahityakaars.. sad gloomy love stories have a better shot at touching those heartstrings and bringing out emotions ..

I don't know . I am a sucker for sad stories too 😆

Agree with what you say 100%!

This story is packed with huge drama. I can't wait to see Saras in an ashram. Already he's doing many poojas in preparation for that phase of his life. 😆 And then... Kumud also ends up in ths ashram! 😲 😆 drama pe drama!!!

You know, when I read it ..the other perspective that I had was

Given the early 1900 that the book was written in, women were not so respected in the society . .. and in his novel Kumud is introduced as a strong character..

Think of it this way,

in spite of everything going her way with the love coming , its she who upholds the duties of being a daughter, wife, widow.. for the family.. putting self below all of this .. i think author brought out her strength of character ( in a twisted way) .. although , when i stop giving benefit of doubt, and i am out of the emotions that the novel generates.. it irks me the entire sacrifice bit ..sacrifice for heck of sacrifice is pointless

To be honest, I really really hope SLB doesn't follow the storyline with a needlepoint. And a small part of me thinks that he won't. Since it's a daily, he has to change teh storyline a little bit to fit the trp's and whatnot. Plus, I think since it's based on a novel, he must realize that if he follows the novel closely then there's no fun in watching the show if he follows bit by bit because everyone knows what will happen. (and thats no fun lol). Even in American shows (like True blood, etc) the shows tend to deviate from the books, some characters aren't introduced, others are introduced and kept past their death dates (they don't get killed off if the audience likes them, etc). So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that SC the show is slightly different.

The novel is so depressing. But thank you SO much for writing out a synopsis. It was great! Much appreciated :)

Oh i hope he doesn't stick to the story .. but i think he will .. else its difficult to drag on 😉

I hope SLB realizes it, even though he is a big fan of the novel and devdas. This is not a movie, its a daily soap, and to keep interest of the audience, he will have to make some alterations to the original for sure.

You know what i think ..😃

First 5 years we would have SC with its original sad downs ..

and then after 5 years there would be leap .. with kumud's daughter .. or maybe if Kusum never allowed Kumud and SC to come together 😉 .. then maybe with kusum's and SCs son ..

Who .. behold.. would grow up to be Devdas.. exactly on footsteps on his father😉 therby making the logical sense of connection and for next 5 years ensues devdas inspired story 😛 .. or they could try nirmala with a twist .. i would like that .. nirmala is truly a nice novel ..

My only condition, consult us CVs before the casting 😛
