Copy-pasting from my reply to another post:

Even though writing letters is old-fashioned, it is quite romantic. Letters give a tactile feeling. It will be akin to people preferring printed books, even if e-books are cheaper. convenient and don't occupy space The characters have been transported to modern times, yet they have old world charm and it will be very much in characters to exchange letters. They may try writing emails, but then decide that it is hand-written letters that they prefer. Theirs will be an unhurried love story, instant make up-break up wali nahi.

Sending letter is rather cute. I mean 21st century, emails things are perfect at their place but letters certainly have their own charm and beauty when it comes to love. Love letter always played important part in love. Nice post Reemz.

I agree with every word you wrote. Thank God the makers didn't use an email or texting for Saras and Kumud's communication and letters are still kinda romantic for me (even though they're not romantically involved yet but later on they will be). These letters played an important role in their life and I'm sure emails can never replace letters !!

Letters just give this romantic and somewhat of a mature love story kinda feel. I love the use of letters instead of emails and phones.. Also considering the fact that the village Kumud lives in has one computer at the school which on top has server problem it's justifiable for her to write letters to him and vice versa.

Thank you for each and every reply- I'll try to summarise in one post so I don't end up repeating myself. You guys mentioned some good points about letters being more romantic. Emails, technology etc feels all so mechanical. Letters have a different feel altogether and without giving away too much (anita will know :P) but one letter plays such a beautiful asset in the novel and I'm sure SLB will keep that aspect. Emails CANNOT do that.

doublep: I would have liked that too. I still want to hear her say 'Main apne bapu ko chorke kahin nahin jaoogi'- the father & daughter bond is truly endearing.

Prachi: True about Indian girls in native places having lower expectations. It may seem like a joke to some here because we take everything for granted and have such high demands. What's wrong if a girl likes to dream a little bit?

dewsplash: Ahhh well that is Jen for you. Personally I'm very choosy with men so wouldn't relate to Kumud's character in that sense but Jen makes it all very believable.

It's very easy to mock but just as hard to appreciate something very honest & pure.

Thank you everyone (nice to see some familiar faces too).

I find it quite romantic sending letters to each other :) why the use of email all the time? With letters you give your own personal touch and plus one of my relatives who got married last year also did the same, they both exchanged letters to each other to get to know about each other which I quite like and yeah the novel does suggest that. Agreed with everything you said :)

@*Reemz* 👏⭐️👍🏼

You are BANG ON!!!! Thanks for writing such an awesome post to clear the obvious facts to those who want to remain oblivious. Clearly many people on this forum are not really fans, so it seems that they are "acting" like fans to "politely bash". 😳

Reema - so good to see your post after ages...kem che majama?? 😳
well its me who has been MIA from IF since ages😆
but this show and Jenny brought me back...

well what can I say..as usual I loved ur post and totally agree with it...I just went to India in my winter break and trust me ppl I was in Mumbai, even there the speed is not as fast as we all are used to everywhere...It is of course better than the villages and towns but there are many many places still where they barely have internet or might have just one computer like they have showed in SC...

I read the summary of the novel online and it clearly said that the letters played an important role in the story...a very important role in fact..I was damn sure that SLB wouldnt take away that aspect at any cost...and I liked how they have given the whole logical explanation behind writing letter, it completely makes sense...and to be honest its just so romantic to see how the love story will go forward...☺️

and I still do not understand why everyone is cribbing about Kumud's blushin and all just after seeing SC's eyes...well they provided the reason behind that as well and any typical indian girl from small town will behave this way since they dont have huge demands and expectations and wish to marry the guy who can love them whole life...

I am so excited to see more and would love to see the chemistry between Gautam and Jenny and how and when they will actually meet...

and one last thing, did you read the novel Reema??
if yes then where did u find it? coz I was not able to find it anywhere...
