I am enjoying whatever!!! I think there are many people who still love to write letters...I think Kumud has taken the initiative to get in touch with SC, since at her place interner server is down, she has used the traditional mail and SC will respond in the same way as he doesn't have Kumud's e-mail ID...

You nailed it. However, implausible it may have been (and here it's not even implausible, we're talking about a not-so developed place), it would have been completely impersonal for them to exchange emails. And as you said, letters seem to be an integral part of this story, I am kinda happy that they didn't switch to a modern means. Seriously, imagining Saras and Kumud's love grow through emails seems completely bizzarre. So, no qualms with the letter exchanges.
To be completely honest, I did wish that Kumud would not be shown smitten by him so fast; the 'smiling to herself part on the ride to school' was not required IMO. I expected her to be completely mesmerized by the uncanny resemblance to the man in her dreams but with a hint of holding back, still putting up that 'I don't want to leave my baapu' conviction. But the show has just started so, Imma just overlook those minor hastings

I completely agree with each and every word of yours..!!! The essence that a letter hold.. an email wouldnt have that.. if the letter is an important part then so be it.. its actually nice to see people still write letters.. i think it's kinda romantic :) And we saw how the server was slow n ders only one computer.. n its not even at home but at her school.. so letter is the best option here :)

The personal touch of a letter cannot be matched by an e mail...
And yes...trying to keep the original essence of the story was important too...

So it will be chitti from here and there...before there is a dil exchange!

Very well put Reema! Last time I went to India, I had to sit almost right next to the modem to get the wifi working! It takes hours! And some places don't even have wifi. So I can understand that situation. And I wouldn't want to talk to someone on phone if I don't want to marry them. It get's a bit too awkward and sounds rude! I think letter was the best option.

Secondly, girls in India have very small expectancies from their future husbands. Unlike us, they don't ask for a handsome guy with sexy eyes! Instead, they wish for him to love her with all his heart and be looked up by the society. Her seeing him in her dreams was a fated sign for her to say yes to this marriage. She didn't fall in love, she is just overwhelmed by the play of destiny, an that leads her to assume that he is her JeevanSathi, for he haunts her dreams! =)

Good post Reema!

I wouldn't dare to talk to someone on the phone, especially when I don't wanna marry them. Letters are better, written things are the best.. If the photo didn't load properly how would they email each other.. Some people 🥱

You are right :) problem is that people keep forgetting that it is based on a novel written in 1800s. They are trying to make it as contemporary as possible yet not deviating from the essence and values of the original story. And so far they have done a commendable job.

1. Kumud dint not fall in love ''already'' and overnight.. She is intrigued and fascinated with the eyes that she saw in her dreams and next day she sees that this guy has same eyes..If I was her even I would think once whoaa what happened.. is he really the man I saw in my dreams? So her reactions are very natural. She said she has not said yes to the proposal but she couldn't say no either.. Totally makes sense!

2. I will copy paste my reply on another post - '' He used a private mailing/courier service to send the letter which is why the bill was sent at home. It will be faster than the regular mailing service. In the original novel, they exchange letter so they stuck to it. I am glad they kept it that way because emails, faxes etc will never have the same effect as hand written letters. Other than the whole feel that letters have, they also gave justification as to why letters and not emails. Saras cant ask for her email id, doesnt want to call her which is understood so he decides to write letters ( assuming he got the address from one of the letters that Kumud's father had sent). As of Kumud, they already showed the whole village has one computer that too in the school.

@ red- I can see you POV.. But the actress enacted those scenes, specially the song so beautifully that I couldn't complain. Also novels and movies/tv are different in the sense that in novel you can play with the viewers imaginiation ..In a tv show , that too an Indian daily soap, they have to spice things up to keep audiences hooked.. make it visually appealing.. Also I think the idea was to show the difference in the way Saras and Kumud react.. One is happy and the other one is completely revolted by the idea which is gonna reverse after the video conference.. Kumud's pride will be hurt and Saras will be smitten by her beauty..😊
