You are right :) problem is that people keep forgetting that it is based on a novel written in 1800s. They are trying to make it as contemporary as possible yet not deviating from the essence and values of the original story. And so far they have done a commendable job.
1. Kumud dint not fall in love ''already'' and overnight.. She is intrigued and fascinated with the eyes that she saw in her dreams and next day she sees that this guy has same eyes..If I was her even I would think once whoaa what happened.. is he really the man I saw in my dreams? So her reactions are very natural. She said she has not said yes to the proposal but she couldn't say no either.. Totally makes sense!2. I will copy paste my reply on another post - '' He used a private mailing/courier service to send the letter which is why the bill was sent at home. It will be faster than the regular mailing service. In the original novel, they exchange letter so they stuck to it. I am glad they kept it that way because emails, faxes etc will never have the same effect as hand written letters. Other than the whole feel that letters have, they also gave justification as to why letters and not emails. Saras cant ask for her email id, doesnt want to call her which is understood so he decides to write letters ( assuming he got the address from one of the letters that Kumud's father had sent). As of Kumud, they already showed the whole village has one computer that too in the school.
