the show does send out a somewhat subtle message tht dark people e .lack moral courage..
the majority of bidaai's viewership lies in rural and level b towns..and there you already have a mindset ..tht doesn't need it reinforced...

The problem is when they higlight the color issue..like wiith Kaushi,Chotimaa,Ragini and now Tamanna ..all have repeatedly been addressed as dark and then u see them failing somewhere...

But Vasu /MAlti who do have many character flaws much more thn say Kaushi /Ragini are never addressed as fair or their color is never highlighted...we know they are fair, but it just fades into the background...so u don't connect it....

Unintentionally they have ended up connecting dark color with bad behavior..
You just have to see some utube comments during the rift track...

I agree with you to some extent. Vasu-Ambika...both are negative/grey characters. SanGini/TaShi - there is not just color issue but also the fair girl is an orphan that makes a huge difference. People are quick to blame Ragini but Mamaji also failed in Sadhana's case. He gave her sanksaars and values but he could never control Kaushi's behavior and made Sadhana understand that she is not responsible for Ragini's miseries.

I feel the show tries to establish the concept, that how much love is there, there are a certain group of people like Vasu, Kaushi, Malti who always try to hit at the weak points of two people and separate them.. They did the same for Sagini, who were epitomes of sibling love..and now they are trying to show the same is being done for Khushi-Tamanna. The society taunts Ragini-Tamanna for being dark and Khushi-Sadhna for being so called orphans.
These people can never let people like Sdahna Ragini or Khushi-Tamanna stay happy . It was Sadhna before who faced hardhsips and now when Ragini is trying her level best to raise the two children equally, the society is again trying to sow the seeds of poison in people like Ragini and Tamanna, as they have a weak point for being dark. Its highlighting a problem of our society that even if two people who keep their love and affection for each other above everything, society creeps in to rift that relationship. Same goes for Khushi Tamanna, they are kids, but at this age only, they are subjected to humiliation and insecurity. This is the problem of our society that people cannot see any good thing...

I agree with Topic starter to some extent ,Bidaai failed to portray Dark skinned people in a good way .They are shown Weak and jealous . There are many better ways to show the discrimination and the most important thing neglected by the CT's is how dark skinned people deal with this discrimination . Uptill now none of them have dealt it strongly and have succumed to this evil ,and as @Veritas said ,i have read those comments in Youtube during Rift track and those comments are very sick
One thing which i feel is society/anyone should not develop their thinking/mindset based on a television show . If at all they want to take something then focus on positive point and ignore anythign which is negative

I really wonder what is the main theme of bidaai,is it one should look for inner beauty or this show is made on theme that dark girls are ugly looking and at the same time jealous and selfish girls.

I really feel bidaai is a threat to India society,Indian society which is already facing so many issues will now have one more issue to in its list and that is colour discrimination.
I always felt that bidaai wants to spread the message that dark girls are always jealous and weak inside, they cant face life problems, they always need some fair fairy to tackle their problems
and worst they show that if among two sister one is dark and one is fair then that dark girl will be jealous of her fair skinned sister's success and beauty.
Why this show is hell bent on proving this thing that dark is ugly
Again they are showing tamanaa the dark skin sister negative, I think this show is going to make society develop a notion that darkskinned girls are bad
This show is a threat to indian society where already in small towns and villages fair girls are considered over darker ones in every sphere and now with this show they will definately develop a notion that dark girls are indeed bad at heart too
This show must be immediately stopped and a strict legal action must be taken against people who are realted with this show
All those people who feel this show will spread wrong message to the society regarding dark girls ,we must come together and take a strict action this show
This is true those who are religioulsy following this show have definately started hating dark skinned girls and one example is from my family ,my mother has suddenly developed notion kali ladki dil ki bhi kali hoti hai aur gauri ladki dil ki bhi achi hoti hai and my massi also has same feeling
Guys this show is creating havoc in the socitey ,The show is slowly very slowly making a wrong impression on people's mind reagrding dark girls.
A strict action needs to be taken before its too late

a tight hug to u sweetheart for this thread ........ u r so damn right......... its indeed high time dat RS should be punished for spreading such a wrong msg to the society .......... he n his show is indeed a big threat to this society !!!

in today's time ....... tlevision affects the thinking of ppl to a major extent ........ especially the ladies ........ so its very imp for ppl making tv shows to understand their social responsibility in this regard .......... RS has done totally against his social resp. towrds the society .......... he needs to be pinished infact n stopped from spreading such a wrong msg to the society !!
they should have highlighted the good things abt dark / browwn ppl ....... coz in india mojor population consists of brown ppl ......... colour can never be the criteria to judge sumone's beauty ...... coz it changes wid the environment........ like ppl living in west are fair coz of the cold env there n ppl here are dark/ brown coz of the warm climate .......... features play a very imp role as far as beauty is concerned n he should have highlighted this thing ....... he should have portrayed dark ppl as beautiful n good too just like fair ppl ........... but instead of chging ppl's thinking in a positive way .......... he did totally the opposite of wat he should have done being a citizen of this country as part of his social responsibility .......... IT IS INDEED A VERY SERIOUS MATTER NOW !!!

I agree with whatever you have said. believe me I was waiting a topic like this. Actually I just see one indian show it's DMG. One day accidentally I came across with this show, I felt what kind of show is this, who cares abt. white n black.

We youngsters doesn't even think all abt. this. No body cares abt. all this, I got to some time my niece school, I have never see any kids face all this problem. This show is giving bad impact on society. I believe in India, people see all this daily shows, how can people love this kind of show. It should get banned.

Bidaai is using this issue of of dark and fair skinned people as its is commonly seen in everyday life and thus it will attract lot of audiences.Since they have already picked this topic, it is important to make the correct sense out of it and show it in a positive way.
Until now I too am not very pleased by the way they have portrayed this issue.
Like Raagini did today, hopefully in future they will show positive aspect of this issue.

i totally agree with all your points like when bidaai started out it was meant 2 b about 2 girls with the same qualities except their skin colour was diffrent n how society judged them then all of sudden sadhna was the sacrfising 1 and ragni was the mean one in the rift track and as sum1 said features show beauty not skin colour as many have said ragni has more defined feature (this is not bashing sadhna she is equally beautiful to me) now further going on to the leap i really wanted tammana being shown as the more confident 1 as many have said she has a mother and a father so she would be more secure and again they are showing khushi as the sacrifising 1 is this only to show white people are clean hearted and only do best for the people ( i may be going off track here but in asian society the darker skin colour is nt seen as good or pure etc so by portraying the white person as always being good and the dark person always needing the white persons help just makes them thoughts in backwards asain people more that white is pure colour and dark people no matter how nice always have some flaws) . in every societ wheather white or black every1 has flaws so if they showed sadhna (white) as the more sacrifising one i feel in this series it should be only fair to show tammana as the more prominent one to show no matter whather dark or light good nature is in all no matter whgat the cloour
soz for my mistakes wrote real fast

exactly now a days who thinks about fair and dark concept, after watching bidaai I felt where bollywood is progressing , tv is regressing,i have studied in christian school and spent 3 years studying in canada i swear i have never seen anykind of this dark ans fair issue.
I was never taunted for my complexion indeed i was considered very beautiful,i got so many modeling offers i never seen any perosn making comment that as i m dusky i cant pariticipate in modelling contests.
When i was small i was never taunted for my complexion but yes as i was fat pople used to make fun of me for my fatness but i never cried or used to feel upset about this, rather i used to take this in light manner and me myself used to make fun of myself,if i would have been at raginis palce then if my mum would have been like kaushi then i would have fought with her for her behaiour towards sadhna and if somebody makes fun of my complexion then i would have taken it very light manner
honestly speaking if i would hae been at ragini place then instead of day dreaming abut my prince charming i would hae thought of sister sadhna and would have spent my life in making her life full of happiness and would have also explained to her that my dream is to become something in life and not to get married and i am npt affected by peoples comments but yes i am affected by my sisters tears if you will not be happy then i will not be able to live
I would have never allowed sadhna to do any sort of sacrifice for me because this insted of making my life better would have wrosened it as i would then have never got married out of guilt that i am the reason for my sister's miseries
this was the apt way of dealing with ragini character
then they could have created positive impression about dark girls in the society but what they showed with raginis character this will only make her loathed by the ssociety
earlier too my favourite show jassi jaisi koi nahin dealt with same problem and it was beautifull shown jassi taking all taunts and mocking comment for her looks in light manner
she educated herself to the level that she handled responsibilites of her family and she strongly faced society'r rude behaviour towards her looks
at the same time she was shown evry good natured girl
this is the apt way of dealing with any problem what bidaai is showing will only make situation worst for dark girls and mainly in small towns and villages
I REQUEST ALL THOSE, WHO STRONGLY FEEL THAT BIDAAI IS SPREADING A VERY WRONG MESSAGE TO THE SOCIETY ,PLEASE WE NEED TO TAKE AN ACTION AGAINST IT AS ITS THREATING THE INDIAN SOCIETY
