Baseer Ali says Bigg Boss 19 lacks ‘diggaj’ contestants, adds ‘this season is not for me’

Bigg Boss 19 is once again in the spotlight after captain Baseer Ali openly criticised the show’s format and the contestants. His outburst during the recent episode raised questions about the flow of the game and the standard of participants this season.

Baseer admitted that the season felt disconnected from what he had expected. Expressing his frustration, he said the platform was meant to highlight personalities, but he did not feel his presence was being recognised. “This season is not for me. Every year they say Bigg Boss is about personalities. I came here to show mine. Iss show ka flow jo samajh araha hai after two sessions, I have not come here to build relationships. I am not good in relationships. I like to live my life alone. In the name of Bigg Boss I feel I have been brought to some other show. Captaincy gave me only immunity, and that can be won in fights. In Weekend Ka Vaar, mere baare me kya baat hui?”

Nehal Chudasama attempted to reassure him, reminding him that discussions about him might have taken place outside his awareness. “You don’t know what was spoken about you in Weekend Ka Vaar, think about people outside,” she said.

However, Baseer remained firm. He insisted he was not looking for validation but a fair game. “Where is my personality being talked about? Honestly, contestants are absolutely weak. I thought diggaj log ayenge. I wanted to learn from them, fight with equals. There would be feel. Darwaza bhi knock kar raha hai mera,” he remarked sharply.

Despite his disappointment, Baseer carried out his role as captain when Bigg Boss asked him to save one contestant from nominations. He chose Nehal. Explaining the decision, he said, “She is my friend and I feel she will be targeted by many. By keeping her safe, I want to see who the house chooses instead.”

The episode left viewers divided. While some agreed with Baseer’s blunt assessment of the season, others felt he was undermining his own game by distancing himself. What is clear is that his candour and unexpected choices have added a new layer of tension to the dynamics inside the house.
