Iam fair skinned and I never used to get why my cousins who were dark skinned yet very beautiful, used to be obsessed with fairness creams. After seeing shows like this and Saat Phere, I began to somewhat understand their POV. Although I find the obsession with fairness creams and bleaches quite eccentric, it hits u hard when u see Tamanna trying it on herself. It was not that bad when it was Sara n Parul but these are lil girls.... However the public needs to see this because THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENS!!!!! Not every mother is like Ragini. In Indian society there are a lot of mothers who feel that if their daughter is dark skinned then they may not get a suitable groom etc and hence comes the obsession with fairness. Yeap. There are quite a few Kaushalya's out there. At least I have seen some and Iam only 23!
Its not just Indians who are obsessed with fairness. I saw on the Tyra Banks Show once on how some African American women were prepared to through life - risking lengths to get fairer skin. And the same is also the story with Asian women.
Hopefully Rajan Shahi will make at least some ppl open their eyes to the fact that black is also beautiful. At least I have always felt that anyway :)
I would marry a dark guy (with a personailty like Shiv from Mahi Way) any day.

Completely Agree with Both of You i too started telling these things but discussions Went haywire and i stopped discussing .Forget the fact that 2 of the main leads left the show & concentrate on what they are trying to show .Bidaai was always about 2 girls one fair and other dark/Dusky ( see the first few Episodes Ragini's colour was very Dark and as the show progressed she appeared Dusky )In the middle they diverted from the theme & see what happened to the show .Now actuallly after the leap if felt I'm Watching Bidaai Which i knew & loved

**Mod's note**
Friends the only reason I kept this topic open here was because the story of bidaai currently is actually going through a similar phase where Khushi and Tammy r hving differences because of their skin colour and as per our bidaai rules if the story itself is going in a certain controvertial direction then same discussion on it will b allowed on the forum as well...
But having said that its also everyone's duty in the forum to make sure that while putting forward our opinions/POVs we r not hurting anyone's sentiments out here as the isuue in this topic is very sensitive..but after coming across few comments in this topic..I feel that it might hurt our Indian sentiments if we go ahead with this discussion further..
So with due respect to the topic starter..I m sorry I will hv to close this topic now..
