Wow, i really loved your answer.. yes "anticipation" is the key word here and CVs have got it all right... 😆 and tht is what is giving them TRPs.. bt wat irks me is the potrayal of women..
please CVs at least let them use their brains other than in Planning and Plotting devious plans..😆
i had earlier great hopes for Kokila.. bt i guess its hard to digest for CVs that Indian women can have brains ..😆 and show us what it takes to be a successful homemanager..!!
I am a proud Indian working woman too.. bt i really hope CVs make us learn something good in those 20 minutes tht v give.. surely SNS is not one of those shows.. its like a timepass masala film.. and u got it right there.. after a tiresome long day.. ppl jst want to chill and not put logic into whats being shown.. 😆

Absolutely, the show depicts women is very poor light, most of the times I do not mean to offend anybody or question anyones beliefs.

In a country like India where gender discrimination is prevalent even to this day and there are numerous drives (social causes) to support equality rights for women and educating the girl child et al. I believe television is a very strong medium and feel that the creative team at times ends up giving the wrong idea/impression or even message. It may have repercussions on the society.

Consider Gopi and Rashi; they are are such a contrast.

Gopi - she is depicted as someone who is weak (cannot defend herself, but will defend the others), cannot think logically (at least in the recent development where Urmila n Rashi take her for one big ride), is low on confidence (interactions with Aham), has very little self worth and hence, is low on self respect. She is shown as an innocent cause she is uneducated, she shows respect towards her elders, she knows all the religious rituals, et al. the list is endless. This is a complete contrast to Rashi. Kokila, many a times has admitted by her actions/deeds that she is happy having Gopi when compared to Rashi and her antics. The reason an abusive life and no formal education but does this really hold in reality ?

Rashi - She is the gold-digger. She is the scheming , conniving, cousin who is educated and hence is a no-gooder. She has no love for her spouse, no respect for her in-laws and is at times very rude to her mentor, her mum. Basically she is someone who cannot do anything right. She can definitely come out of any situation unscathed.

Kinjal - Is educated, arrogant rude, has no respect fr her spouse.. her aunt-in-law. She played the scheming SIL for her own personal gains and had a significant role in ruining or at the very least bringing their marriage to ruins. She lied to her family and was caught up in some wicked scheming to get things her way. She was controversy's child.

Now consider Urmila, a conniving woman and the mastermind behind everything terrible. She is a mother-in law who is immensely greedy and uses both her daughter and nephew for her own selfish reasons.

Hetal, a sweet woman who is kind, loving and forgiving. Sh trusts people easily and cannot reprimand anyone.

Kokila, a strong willed woman who had got her son married to an uneducated girl, being fully aware of it. She always maintains that her choice is right and she knows what is best for her son, even if he is the most miserable soul on the planet. She is tough but loving and uses her head , is extremely principled. Then again, she has no respect for her spouse and thinks he is a loser. Uses the father card against the son for emotionally blackmailing him and having him under her thumb. Having said that she is proving to be a supportive MIL but she still has a long way to go.

My concern is the message it sends out to the not urban sections in India. People, esp older women, of the family tend to get influenced since they see education as an evil. The see the portrayal or characters and base general opinions on them. They are reluctant in educating their daughters and getting educated wives for their sons. It is a vicious circle.

The creative team need to use the medium responsibly and meaningfully. They have immense potential in the story and have great viewership to enable change, why not utilize it.

The early episodes we did see Gopi happy... she was simple loving caring and having Panna around helped her mood very much and confidante in everything she did... Her marraiage started off with lies i.e letter Ahem wrote and Neckless kinjal ordered Kokila being very strict and harsh with Gopi...all Gopis hopes and dreams were shattered no love from the one person she thought would be hers, hates her the most (Ahemji)... you don't need education to be smart ...Gopi lacks commen senses... she cant tell the difference between good/bad, right /wrong... if Gopi gets an education R&U will still be there doing Kakaris... Gopi need to be strong in her self and stick to what she says...a week or so ago Gopi told Rashi she does not need her help with Ahem Urmi came and pulled her ear??? why did Gopi take the abuse why not push Urmi shout back at her tell leave me alone... the drama is based on bullying...R&U bullying Gopi...Kokila bullying R&H&P... Ahem bullying G&J... K&U bullying Dhavel. No family values or respect for womenhold...

Yes, that is what they do.. bully the weaker ones ...The SNS household is a big mess..

I agree that you do not need education to be smart but it definitely helps. Gopi's character has spiraled down; she was positive despite everything, she was smart, used her brains, she was brave and bold. Her being naive, innocent doesn't mean she has to be absolutely dumb.

I agree about her understanding or lack thereof of understanding and choosing between right/wrong, good/bad etc. I think living and putting up with Urmila and Rashi should have smartened her up and she should have been a little more perceptive of trouble and negativity.

I agree with you... Gopis character is portrayed in such a nagative way that its annoying and irritating no one can go through life they Gopi does if she wasn't in MM or at Urmis house can you imagine what her life would be, a lot has been said about education but she need to get smart and stand up R&U once she gets that bit of confidence in her she will be much stronger with Ahem
