Wanted: New Saloni for Saat Phere

Rajeshree Thakur is leaving Saat Phere and the show will soon have a new Saloni. More bad news: Nahar (Sharad Kelkar) is scheduled to die on the show before Rajeshree leaves.
"Initially we planned a leap and get Saloni's daughter to take her place on the show," said a source on the show, "but that was thought to be too common a tactic and so we decided to just bite the bullet and get in a new Saloni instead."
Asked how the switch would be managed, the source said that had not been worked out yet. 'We haven't yet found the new Saloni," the source said, "we're looking for a dusky, ordinary looking girl like we have had on the show."

Rajeshree's final shots haven't been canned either because of the ongoing trouble with unions. "We could not shoot at all for a whole week and we had no backlog so we have to show some repeat telecasts till we get out act together," the source added, "we wanted to shoot Nahar's death sequence first but that's been delayed as well."

So now, if all goes to plan, the show will see first Nahar die and then Saloni's track will be decided.

In the serial currently, Nahar has been shown as fighting a terminal illness, aware of the fact that he is soon going to die. He has been shown mourning the fact that he will leave his family, especially Saloni. However, he knows that the doctor treating him is soft on Saloni and he wants the two to get closer together so that once he's dead Saloni will get a shoulder to cry on.

thanks for the artical i know that you all are very sad because rajshri leave the but it's good that they replaced rajshri instead to show saloni's daughter story.because if they kill saloni's roll and bring her daughter's story

I doubt changing Saloni will affect the ratings - a number of shows have changed the actress and the shows have gotten better. They changed Laxmi in Betiyann and the show is doing well. Changing Bani in Kasamh Se has worked well the show is doing better than ever. Killing off Veer in Maayka has worked quite good for that show.

A few viewers might not like it but I doubt most viewers will really care who saloni is...

i agree most viewers really do not care adn yes shows have done well with new bani. But some shows have done bad after replacing lead like Ek ladki anjani si.

I hate to say it, but I think the show will die without the both of them. They are the heart and soul of the show and most of the storyline revolves around their love. Just pack up and call it a day, they had a good run. Why drag this thing out? And whoever that source is should be ashamed calling that beautiful actress "ordinary". Is it just because she's darker than the almost white-looking other actresses that she's ordinary? She may be "dusky" as he called it, but she is by no means ordinary.

but why is nahar quitting the show as well? is he going to take up some other project?

I think there's a difference between replacing someone like Laxmi in Betiyaan versus killing off the male lead and completely replacing the female lead in this show. It's just because we've all grown so used to seeing them together and they have strong chemistry. A new Saloni just won't be as believable or interesting to me personally, plus not having Nahar there will make it even less interesting. I don't find Varun very enigmatic.

Hopefully I will be proven wrong, though!
