😆 Thanks Indradanush for answering all of the questions for me 😊.

Sur /swar
- notes. In reality shows the phrase "sur teek nahi lageh" is often heard. By this they mean the notes were not sung at the correct pitch, they may have been too flat or sharp in relation to the scales of the composition.

Talafuzz
refers to pronunciation of words as Indradanush stated. Throw refers to the projection of voice for example in the song ek haseena thi, most of the words in the mukra are held in high pitch/ projected/ thrown.

Falsetto refers to artificially raising the scale so that the voice has that angelic quality of high notes sung in high pitch you can hear it in opera singing and as Indradanush said Alisha Chenoy uses it quite often. Her song Tinka Tinka from the movie Karam is sung almost entirely in falsetto.

Thanks again, so what differentiates western and Indian singing styles? Indian singing seems more varied with a far wider tonal range. Judges mentioned Jenice's voice seemed better suited for western songs, eventhough her Hindi is fluent.

Megha25

Great question! Voice quality is the main factor differentiating Indian and Western Singing styles. Indian playback voices have a soft and high range quality or some with low powerful voices like Jaspinder Narulaji are preferred. In Western singing voices have that raspy quality to it and low range powerful voices or those in the middle (neither high nor low range) are preferred. Jenice has that raspiness to her voice, I think you would agree that her voice quality matches Mariah Carey more than it does Shreya Goshal.
