not sure i agree. i dont think it's for lack of being able to come up with enough music/ singing material. if they thought that was what the audience wanted, i am sure they cld always fill the programming with such material. if they are not doing it, it's probably because it doesnt work for them, or the audiences either.

There is no question there is more of audience who wants to watch the human falling down as compared to the audience who wants to watch a human perform great feats. The channel producers completely understand that and no wonder want to cash into that.

The fact is as the show nears the conclusion these TRP increasing activities increase, There are less contestants, the set time for the program doesnt shrink, you can only have contestants sing so many songs in the given timeslot(and you are right they can only hold the attention span of the viewer for so long), so there is time to be killed, so why not do this?

that's one thing. but i'd like to get back to my earlier theme. that sooner or later folks who cant handle backstage exposure are accidents waiting to happen. they go the ismail darbar way, never able to control their outbursts when they are put live on tv, always thinking that they are right and the other person is wrong, never seeing that both can also be right or both wrong. he might have risen high at one point in time, but the fall that happened was all the more precipitous and probably hurts more, makes him more bitter. now if someone like that was in a competition early on, we can hide his backstage antics all we want. but sooner or later they will end up shooting themselves. so whether they show backstage events or not, it doesnt really matter from a longer-term perspective for the people who are being exposed. it just prepones the day of reckoning i think, maybe gives them a chance to work on their failings early on when they still can. and let's face it- to get ahead these days, one does have to face the camera at unexpected moments and still perform. so why run from it.

In todays' world of reality shows, the new reality is that there is no backstage! One cannot put up a decent behaviour inside an auditorium only to go and spit venom backstage. There are cameras and reporters everywhere. Hypocrisy is easily detected these days.

I think this is good for contestants, judges and everyone else. The only way to survive in this world is to be serene and in control of emotions.

well, its easy to say but difficult to curb your emotions in this or similar situations imo. i myself cant remain calm and composed in these kind of scenarios . and if i happen to control them then i would think it as "surviving" and if i dont then its "living" for me..😛

forget just backstage, i think they should film everything, everywhere. as churchill might have said if he were still around, by air, over land, under water. 😛 😊
