Reemji,

So seem to be able to dig out quite a lot of good but forgotten singers. Sometimes when it is not destined no matter how much they try Fate looks the other way.

Yes Summer, he surely is a forgotten singer today. But he was the king for a few years. I dont think he has any work now ! Such is his destiny.

He must be quite old then, because after reaching a certain age most people cannot sing the high notes very well. Even Ashaji"s voice is not as fantastic as when she was younger. So only solution for them is either to be a composer, song writer or a Music Director, or a teacher. It is the same in sports and any activity, "if our karma is not there it is not easy for even God to move the mountains and help us no matter how good we are".😕

Jade, I think Sanu is 50 years old which for singing is not a very old age. Infact he played a Hero in a bangali movie just couple of years back and manybe still does so ! We have many singers like Ashaji, Lataji, Kishori Amonkar, Subha Mudgal, Amit Kumar, Jagjit singh and many more who sing even in their 60's and 70's.
I think Sanu left the music scene to become Hero in Bangla movies and could not make it there. Here it was a case of Out of sight - out of mind. But I will not be surprised if he has a comeback specially now that Nadeem Shravan are re-uniting.

I think even Udit Narayan debuted on the Hindi playback around the same time as Kumar Shanu and both of them had hit songs at the same time. Let us see what difference the age factor make in this case.

So Sanu is still very young for singing. That means he has had a very long singing career. I hope he comes back again very strongly as he has a fantastic voice and now that the industry is booming there will be several opportunities. Each singer is unique and always adds a different flavour to music, and even among them too a few will stand out like the red morning sun rising from the horizon.😆

Reemji, you have sharp ears. I listened to Harpreet as you suggested and yes he does come close to Kumar Sanu. VS compared Harpreet with Mussarat and said that Mussarat has an explosive element, but unfortunately Muss was not so consistent overall because certain song types was not his cup of tea. 😆

Somehow, for some reason, Kumar Sanu was never my favorite. How I wish Kishoreda was alive to sing some of those songs especially the ones from 1942-a love story and Jab koi baat...

His nasal twang and efforts to copy kishoreda is what put me off him. Compared to him, Abhijit bhattacharjee sounds much much better.

I agree. I remember several songs that were sung by Kumar Sanu and another singer, and I almost always felt that the other singer did a better job (this happened many times with Udit Narayan). There are a few songs of Kumar where I liked his singing, namely Kuch Na Kaho, Dil Ki Tanhai Ko and Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain. However, overall, I'm not too disappointed to see him go.

We're talking about 'The' Kumar Sanu right? 😕

Why these overbearing overwhelming eulogies for the father of besura nasal singing?
