Today guest jury and mentors aptly commented 👏on contestants so I would just highlight some points which I though while listening to them other than judges' comments.

Ghazal round:

Raja: 9/10. He was good though I prefer his folk singing to ghazals.

Aneek: 7/10 Something was amiss. His attempt was good but itna maza nahin aaya.

Amanat: 10/10. He was perfect. He was actually singing with controlled breathing so what we heard was not him going out of breath but keeping it in control. If he had problems with breathing then his voice would have strained, which didn't.

Poonam: 8/10 A very good attempt. As everyone said a bit faulty start which she controlled later.

Semi-classical round:

Aneek: 8/10. One of my all time fav. songs and I was waiting for someone to sing this song on the show. Last year Amey Date sang it in II and I prefer that to this rendition. For the first time I thought Aneek sounded a bit immature.

Raja: 8/10 Sur faltered at few places. He needs to do more riyaaz. He still sounds a bit strained.

Amanat: 9/10 I prefer actual composition. Still Amanat tried to do his best and proved how versatile he is as a singer. A true find of srgmp.

Poonam: 10/10. She was the best in semi-classical round. She sang with ease and it seemed almost like her farewell song and looked like she already made peace with her exit. It was flawless. 👏

-----------

Thanks Zee for a good evening without any drama.

i second every word of this! thanks maya for speaking my mind!

I think todays episode was awesome. 👏

Major props to Zee Tv for taking such a huge step and giving more preference to singing and music rather than performance.

It was great to see two legends of hindi music industry judgeing the show. 👏

All the songs were sung awesome. Specially Albela Sajan and Laga Chunari Maine Daag two of my all time favourates. I think today they all did full justice to both the songs they sung.

The result in the end was sad but they all were best and its a competition and somebody got to go now.

Yesterday's show truly belonged to music 👏 👏 👏 a truly enjoyable show.

Pandit Jasraj and Jagjit Singh are music reverends & were spot on with their remarks. Mercifully the mentors behaved 😆 . Shekhar as always was the best. Had he not been a musician he would make an excellent diplomat 👏 .

All the contestants were great with their performance ; must have needed courage to sing in front of the maestro's. 👍🏼 It was wonderful to listen to them although I am not much into ghalzals still I liked the performances. A true musical gem of an episode 👏

I agree with most of Appa's analysis. Saved me a LOT of time. 😃

On Amanat's breathlessness (being mentioned as someone asked me to specifically comment on it):

It was intentional and not due to lack of breath control. A similar example of such a style would be: Shreya Ghoshal's "breathlessness" during "Pal pal, har pal" in Lage Raho Munnabhai.

However, I did feel that it hampered the flow of the song. I did not enjoy Amanat's ghazal as much as I enjoyed his adapted version of Albela Sajan, but that could be due to a matter of taste. I am personally not a big fan of ghazals, so I enjoyed the 2nd half of the episode more.

Baat ki khaal nahin nikal raha lekin there have been many who have sung this song. Off the top of my head, Ronkini and another girl (Ronkini lost in that tie) and lately a very young girl Aishwarya (meena M and usha M were the judges) yaad aa rahe hain...
Another song based on raag-malika 'pi bin suna ri' has been sung by Sanjeevani and also by Sanjeev Ramabhadran, the american "dude" (was that the name?). Sadly though, no one has ever attempted the other raag malika from the same movie 'ritu aaye ritu jaye sakhi ri'...

28th Sept, 2007 is a important day in the history of musical shows. C2007 standard that will take a long time for any other shows to come close or surpass. After ages, we got what we all wished for a long long time.... complete focus on quality music and nothing else.👏

The entire packaging was good. The set, the song selection, the judges, the behaviour of the mentors, the astounding performances of the participants, it was absolutely divine..!!!

The start of the show set the mood . It was so nice to hear Pt.Jasraj ji and Jagjit Singh ji sing on the SRGMP stage....👏

Now for the Rounds :

Round 1 :

Raja : He gave a real good start to the show. All those critics who talked about Raja's versatility, well here is the newsflash for you.A singer who sings Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder songs can do justice to a Ghulam Ali ghazal as well. He was awesome !

Aneek : His song selection could have been better but whatever he got he put his soul into the song. The voice immaturity was a little evident in the lower notes, but then he is only 18 years , how can anyone expect him to have the most matured voice. He got the feel and sur perfect.

Poonam: Her start was a bit weak and unsure, but from the antara she picked up and after that it was simply divine, she poured out her soul. amazing !!!

Amanat : He was the show stealer in this round. He was simply mindblowing! Hearing him who would say that one was listening to a singing contest performance, it sounded more like a concert. The little breathing noise, well it is something that can be easily corrected, and despite that the impact was simply divine...he ruled...

Round 2 :

Aneek : Wow, to sing a Manna De song and that too so effortlessly, if that is not credibility then what else is !!!!

His tarana is something I will rememebr for a long time.he was just FABULOUS !!!!!!

Raja : Raja started well, shook up a bit and then picked up. Somehow certain words in his version sounded shorter because he did the murkiyas a little differently. However, it sounded quite OK, but yes he could have done a little better.

Poonam : this song has not one but multiple raagas and the transition is so fluid that it is so difficult to distinguish them. For a singer who has no classical singing training, she was simply divine...PERFECT...and her Taans.....Oh my God.... they were simply outstanding !!!

Amanat : now he was singing one of my fav songs. He sang very well, did full justice to it.

I somehow like the original track more than this one.

Ismail Darbar Saab has groomed his participants very well. He has made Amanat and Poonam sing some of the most tough songs instead of sticking to popular songs.

She is one loved girl , that was obvious, from the reactions of the mentors, her fellow participants, host and everyone present there when she was leaving. It was quite sad to see her go. She will be remembered for a long long time and so will be this show....

Poonam's exit was really sentimental.I hope Zee SRGMP gifts her a training program with some distinguished guru. They had done so for Rajeev before. This girl has a bright future and can go really far.

Hats off Zee C2007 for taking the show to a new height. This show will tell if just "only music packages" sell or not. When there is talent , why need anything else...

Ditto, ditto. I second the comments. According to my ears, anyway. I'm definitely not qualified for commenting on the finer aspects.

Thanks for saving me a lot of typing work, Mr. Advil! 😆 😆

Sat:

Raja for both songs = 1000000000000000000000000000000000
Aneek for both songs = 100000000000000000000000000000
Amanat for both songs = 100000000000000000000000

Show was the best in SRGMP history, where all contestants got 10's, and was 100% deserved 👏
