I think Poonam has a very unique voice and if trianed properly can improve upon all the negatives she might have. When she sang Vandemataram or Qawwali and one more song in which there were notation singings or BOLs and she stumbled couple of times and hurried to hide her lack of calssical training. If she is given that training she will surely overcome those shortcomings.

Poonam sung the "mataram" portion involving boltan , rather straight forward , but i feel the overall effect of the rendition was still as close to the original. I cannot imagine, someone not classically trained is able to sing like Poonam. She is a real uncut diamond in that case, and further training , guidance and correction can only provide us with another gem of a singer!!
Hello Gopalbhai,
I like the dialogue between us. Yes Poonam is definitely a uncut diamond. I said exactly the same thing but in a different way. I called her classically not trained. If she gets proper training, she will surely be a well cut diamond with all facets shining brilliantly. In Vande Mataram she mixed two notations as 1/2 and 1/2. Like you said the overall effect was very very good. I am not criticizing her. Many people forget those things. She is a gem for sure. Every time there is a scoring time she paces floor and does not look at the judge directly. Even after getting good scores she does not get in to the over exhuberance. Just smiles. That shows the respect she has for the elderly. I bless her to have all the success she can get.

thanks you all for the input.. 😊
Loved reading all the post.. I made a comparison between Aneek and Amanat and somehow maybe because of Amanat's diction problem, I find Aneek to be technically better than Amanat.. Aneek can improve on his breathe control by lot of exercises and Amanat too can work on his diction and clarity of words..
Hey Anu, Amanat beats everyone else hands down in the poll though 😛
