I will try my best to answer this question based on my own knowledge:

The basic prerequisites to be a singer (the non-bathroom kind) is as follows:

1. An appealing/unique tonal quality or timbre

2. Ability to project your voice

3. A natural aptitude to mimic the different sound frequencies that one hears in a specific pattern.

4. A range of 1.5 - 2 octaves minimum.

All of the above are natural gifts and they cannot be developed or learnt for the most part. They make up a singer.

Once an individual has all of the above attributes, he/she can learn technique, which basically involves "control" of the voice. A singer's voice does not really have technical limitations
i.e. a singer has the ability to sing scales quickly, to add ornaments to songs, to modulate his/her voice.

Some singers learn to do this quickly, while others learn it at a much slower pace. So the "limitation" that you speak about comes about in the singer's learning abilities or determination to practice.

Other factors such as personal liking for one song over another and matching a voice to a type of song do play a role in limiting a singer, but they are not "technical limitations" as per me.

answers my question perfectly. thanks!

Great post, Anu!! 👏

According to me all the singers are technically strong at this point in the show..

I have seen some excellent remarks on each singer by many of u musical experts in this forum, and I agree with most of you, so my views might sound repetitive, but here's my Critical point of view--

Amanat : He is technically very strong, and sings with ease..sometimes his diction is not very clear. In fast numbers his voice lacks the energy and power..also I feel he concentrates on the sur, taal etc. i.e. the technical aspects and so sometimes the feel/mood of the song is lacking..he is great in soft songs..

Aneek : Again, technically sound, like Anu pointed out, has a breath-control problem. Voice quality not mature or powerful enough, quite a common voice too..Sings the songs with great ease. He has proven his talent in soft songs as well as fast numbers.

Sumedha : Excellent voice quality, clear pronounciation, in high notes her sur becomes a bit delicate (not lately, she has improved a lot on that now, so its almost never heard anymore)..she brings good feel to the song..she brings a great flow to the song which is mesmerizing.

Poonam : Very powerful voice, clear diction, technically very strong. She abruptly ends the lines and does'nt give it a good flow or finishing..like Tanaz rightly pointed out, her notes tend to become detatched..she has to work on that. I need to hear a softer song from her to judge if she can mellow down her tone a little bit, bcos I don't remember having heard a soft number from her. Please remind me if she already has.

Raja : Powerful voice, good throw, strong classical base, technically sound-which is proven by his own additions to the original version, high-notes is his strong point. By continuously practicing and performing high pitched songs his voice has strained a lot which is clearly visible in recent performances. His voice quality is unique, which could also pose as a drawback for him, bcos it filters down the number of songs that suit his voice to a great extent.

Seeing the present status of Indian music industry which is searching for a different male voice.

Please say whom do u personally feel will be successful in future

Just your personal feeling.

In my view, Raja and Sumedha have a strong potential to be successful in the music industry.

Raja needs some time to do riyaaz with softer songs in the middle ranges - he is quite capable of doing a good job with them given enough time.

Sumedha also needs to keep perfecting her technique so that not even a single note goes amiss.

Many Many Thanks for your very nice and neutral views without any bais or favouritism for any contestent.

I feel the same as you the rest of the contestents will be lost in this crowded country.

Nice post! Again I dont qualify to provide a critical appraisal but to me Amanat & Aneek seem to be the strongest technically. I personally prefer soft number & find amanat renditions awesome & memorable. He is a has a great voice. Aneek is clearly the most versatile but his voice is yet to mature. I think technically evaluating the factors keeping aside voice quality, I wud vote for Aneek as the strongest with Amanat close behind.

I think technically, Amanat is the strongest whereas Aneek is better in Bollywood maintream songs the reason being the inherent sadness in Amanat's voice which works upto his advantage in ghazals/sad songs but works against him for a happy, fast song. Whereas in Aneek's case his voice is definitely an advantage when it comes to playback singing but the same voice will not be suitable for ghazals. I also feel that Amanat has a distinct style of singing for ghazals/classical songs which Aneek lacks. Aneek's singing style is not rare but I find Amanat's style of singing quite unique.
