so this pratham vishvayudh (i know i spelled it wrong - it's okay, we couldn't figure out the correct pronunciation either) will end up being a bad idea?!😕 - depending on how it's dealt with. I dont' think this show is the appropriate medium to raise the issue nor is the show equipped to deal with the backlash. Without regional gharanas itself we had a major backlash last season..this just ups the ante. also...i dont want to sound discriminating or any of the sort but even if pakistani or even other international singers are better than indian singers will they be given a chance...or patriotism will come in the picture😕 - Who knows... such is the drama Zee will create. They have two routes to go with..and either way it's going to leave a bitter aftertaste. If they go with an international winner many will claim the votes were manipulated for political/social reasons. If they go with an Indian winner there will be a hue and cry over partiality and favoritism, etc.
My main point is, the show has never dealt with this issue in an appropriate and socially responsible manner. Instead, it has employed regionalism as a publicity ploy repeatedly. The regionalism is blatant in the show and will most likely only serve to illuminate issues that are either non-existant or minor. There is no mechanism to cope with the stresses it will introduce in society. If we're already so divided into North, South, East, West, one state vs. another, etc. such a platform and exploitation by the media will only serve to amplify that. And you can well imagine the reprocussions of that. 😕
I know it's a pessimistic view.. but considering the past and present societal mindset, it is a realistic possibility as well.
