That new Director is not that bad...skipping all that audition and Gharana Picking drama, and starting straight off with Gharanas...I like...😃😆

Yep - I think they want to get a head start over Gajji's show. From what I've heard, Gajji will show all that audition and gharana selection - which could mean that Zee would could have a 3-4 week headstart before Star's competitive rounds really get underway. And by then it may be difficult to attract viewers away from Zee.

One of the reasons II2 didn't do too well was because Zee's show was well popular before II2 started, and it was difficult to attract an audience.

So I watched the episode on my DVR and here are my comments.

Yalgaar Ho Gharana

Rimi Dhar - She sings Chaand Nighalgaye - Didn't like it too much. Not sure what ID heard in her voice...Well...Can;t make a statement in the first round so will give the benefit of doubt.😕 Poonam Yadav sings Babuji zara dheere chalo - Sha started with a bang and then fizzzzzzzzzzlllllllllleeeeeeeeddddddd out.....too much breathing... Jyothi Mishra sings mere peekon pawan - She has a tremendous voice ideal for the folksy songs like this...She was SUPERRRB.....Needs mentoring and polishing of course to go all the way...But she will be one of the front-runners. Of course, we will have to see how she performs in other non-folksy songs
1. Desh Gaurav Singh sings nain lad jaive - Pronunciation problems and the rustic effect was totallly missing. Good raag but needs to work on the overall effect

Rock Gharana Contestants:

The zones given are - Bengal, Assam and London

Joy Chakrobarthy sings Bheegi Bheegi - Joker...I hope he doesn't garner the religious sentimental vote because of his rudraskh maala act....Mere favorite song ki watt laga di..Iski to...GRRRRRRRR Amrita Chatterjee sings Piya Bole- She didn;t sound very exciting....but she will not be the first one to get out.. Nirupma Dey sings Daiyaa re Daiyaa - Good start but lagaoed watt in the middle of the song...
1. Shreshta Banerjee sings Dola re Dola - Don;t know how to react...Liked in parts...I won;t want to see her got out in early stages.

Josh Gharana Contestants:

The zones given are - Punjab, Delhi and America

Richaa Tripaathi sings Sajnave Soniyave mahiyave - BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY....I Believe in this lady...She rocked....I hope she continues from where she left....👏 --Kumar sings tere bin saath soniye -- Pretty good for the first try...The guy has potential and I think he will do well in coming rounds...definitely not the first one to go out... Koyna Chatterjee sings Akhiyaan na maar mere yaar: Sounded Flat like a cardboard........I am amazed that she got an ovation..
1. Harpreet deol sings Ramta Jogi: A guy with a great potential.....Unfortunately he evokes comparison with Hema because of this song and I can;t compare because that will be a na-insaafi particularly because this is the first roung. But his rendition was outstanding for first round..👏👏👏

Hit squad Gharana Contestants:

The zones given are - Maharashtra, Gujarat and Africa

Apurva sings Mumbai Nagariya : Good rendition...Very good voice and his overall impact was solid. Even Bhappida seemed happy. Saaberi Bhattacharya : Kidadi Hichki: Good Rendition...but she needs lots of polishing..She started good like many but I could hear lot of breath in between..maybe stage nervousness meghna Verma sings O munghda: Excellent Rendition of the song.. This girl has a lot of potential.. and then the unthinkable happend....MY DVR STOPPED RECORDING....Grrrrrrrrr

I think the best Gharana contestants so far are Vishal-Shekhars. All were really quite good, none of them completely out of sur.... 😛

It was a really good episode, hyped up especially with the judges but that's fine..

And today we will see the international contestants... let's see how they sing..!! 😛

Mine #1 is Bhappi Da Gharana and a close second is VS.....ID and HR gharana are distant thirds...(based on 1st round performance)😛
