Guys...i dont know why everybody likes Hemachandra...just my opinion, but he strikes me as being very boring. i prefer the 'khanak' in Vishwas' voice and the 'dard' in Dilshad's. any thoughts on why everybody likes him (besides the fact that he has flawless 'sur' and 'taal'. Also, when are we going to find out whose been voted back in? please do reply, thanks.

Now, Zee's 'SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005' for budding singers
Mumbai : Actor and host Annu Kapoor recently launched 'SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005' - a series that will show country's top music directors competiting with each other.

'Sa Re GA Ma Pa Challenge 2005' is a musical reality show, in which 32 contestants from various cities will be shortlisted based on their singing ability and compete with each other. Under the guidance and training of Jatin Lalit, Ismail Durbar, Adesh Shrivastav and Himesh Reshammiya, they will form four groups of eight each.

The most interesting part is the rivalry between the music directors, who will train their contestants and pitch them against each other.

Director of 'SaReGaMaPa Challenge 2005', Gajendra Singh, believes that all the participants will definitely get a good start, as they are being trained and groomed by top music directors.

"We have compiled the best of our mentors. We will later launch one more album of the best contestant in all. The music directors like Himesh, Ismail,Jatin-Lalit and Adesh are responsible for latest music as they can be seen in all the latest releases. And I am sure that these directors will launch any one of the contestants as they are thoroughly grooming and training them. Earlier, a lot of struggle was there but now we are trying to eliminate that struggle by giving them a good start," said Singh.

Joyeta Sen, a participant, said, "Competition is getting tougher day by day as all the contestants are very talented and have the potential to do it."

All the participants believe that this contest is an ideal platform which will provide them good opportunities.

"I am very sure that all of us will be benefited by this, as the programme producers have promised to provide work to each one of us," said Miladari, another contestant.

The final winners will get a music contract with Universal and a chance to sing for a Zee Telefilms movie. They will also win a luxury car and a fully furnished two-bedroom flat in Mumbai.

'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa...' finalists go glam

Designer duo Ashima-Leena of Delhi and Anita Dongre of Mumbai have been roped in to design the clothes for the 18 contestants of Zee's 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005'.

The participants are battling it out in the third phase now. The designers have worked on a contemporary look for the contestants keeping their tastes, preferences, superstitions and comfort in mind.

"We always thought that the clothes should not overshadow the talent", confides Leena of the Ashima-Leena brand.

While Ashima - Leena have designed salwar kurtis in earthy colours with embroidery and sequins work for the girls and ethnic sherwanis for the boys, Anita Dongre has planned trendy skirts and tops for the girls and ethnic churidar kurtas for the boys.

One of the thing that has puzzled me many times in the past and certainly for the episode aired in the U.S today where Twinkle and Rajeev got green cards, is the choice of songs! With such a wealth of songs available for both kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle, the contestants and their mentors chose songs that were either dull or obscure. Given that, I believe that Debojit and Himani should have been the winners.Rajeev has a husky unimpressive voice and Twinkle of course is more show than substance!

I agree with you completely on the choice of songs and also the winner among the boys. I thought Debojit sang beautifuly and he has such rich voice. I still do not understand why the mentors made so much noise about the winner among the girls(I thought both Twinkle and Himani were equally good) and kept so mum on the green card for the male contestant.

I also feel that the mentors should be refrained from giving off opinions at this stage. They will sway the judge's decison either way as well as the public voting.

I saw the episode in the US yesterday where TWINKLE and RAJEEV won the green cards. I wanted to say something about the argument between the judges and AS/JL over Twinkle and Himani. It looked to me that Kumar Sanu started by saying "mujhe baut dukh ke saath kehna pad raha hai ki Twinkle ko...." and then they edited the part. After that Sanu is shown giving the green card to Twinkle. If Sanu wanted to give Twinkle a green card, why did he say "bahut dukh ke saath ..." ? I think Sanu wanted to give Twinkle the yellow card but was stopped in time by Khayyam who wanted to give the green card to Twinkle. this seems to have irked Adesh and Jatin who got into an argument with Khayyam . Sanu is a part of the judges panel so he supported Khayyam's decision and abided by it . Looks like we will have to see Uncensored to get the whole story.

Regarding Debojit and Rajeev, in my opinion, Rajeev needs some more polishing to be a playback singer- he seems too coarse. But Debojit was very good yesterday (as he always is). Rajeev's singing is a lot like Sanu's (he wasnt joking when he said that he considers Sanu his idol) and it looks to me his style appealed to Sanu who gave him a green card .
