The second day of the second elimination round for the second batch (I know it is confusing but I could find any easier way to explain this)

Recap- The second elimination round for the second group started on Thursday where Rajiv and Twinkle got green cards.

The show started with shaan, rajiv and twinkle singing dhol baje form Hum dil….
The judges are shiv hari and the theme is songs from 2000-2005

Today's contestants-
Swananda- Jatin Lalit
Niladri- Ismail Darbar
Hemabindu- Aadesh Shrivastava
Dilshaad- Himesh Reshamaiya

The first contestant for the day was Swananda. Jaane jaa (uncommon song)- I thought she was offkey in some places but sang well, very controlled performance. Her voice quality is her plus point and also the calmness.
Mentors- While Aadesh said that she sang very good, Himesh said that there was extraordinary improvement and she is close to best recording quality. Ismail said that she sang the antara beautifully and very good performance.

Hemabindu- Mehndi hai rachne wali from Zubeida….at points sur going…noticed some nasal as well. I also thought the sur not proper in the higher notes. But very good emotions and surprisingly the accent not there today.
Mentors- Jaltin Lalit said that there was tremendous improvement. Himesh said she sounded very fresh and ismail felt that hemabindu was much better than earlier times.

Niladri- Tere liye from veer zaara…..selected a song which suited his voice (I think ismail chose the song)…but seemed like copying the original singer almost to a T. Sang well overall and the voice quality also seemed very good.
Mentors- Himesh said that it was superb, fantastic, extraordinary. Jatin lalit said that very good…good emotion and that ismail is working very hard on his singers. Aadesh said that niladri sang very well and singing with heart.

Dilshaad- Kismat se tum humko (I think it is from Pukar)…..i think he still has the problem of breathing into the mike….but difficult song performed well…but he has performed better.
Mentors- Ismail said the dilshaad sang from heart and chose a very difficult song. Jatin lalit said that dilshaad rocked…among all contestant his pronouciation is very good. Aadesh said that it was a very good performance and hats off to him.

As all of you know by now, there are two rounds of singing in this charan.

The boys sang the song Dil de diya hai from Masti…Niladri sang very well…quite unexpected as this is not his kind of song. Dilshaad sang with lot of emotions but I think he faltered a little bit….his mike sometimes is not in front of his mouth.
Mentors- Aadesh said that niladri copied the original singer, dilshaad sang it better. Jatin lalit said that both of them very good, dilshaad had a very good feel. Himesh felt that dilshaad sang superior. Ismail said that niladri sang better than the original, and dilshaad sang it in his own style.

The girls sang Chori pe chori from saathiya…Bad beginning by Hemabindu some pronunciation problem came up again. Swananda did not have too much emotion but sang it perfectly.

The results...pm me if u want to know. Please do not post it here as some of our friends do not like this.

thanks again for your wonderful update. you did not post the result but somebody else did, and I am happy to have the result as well. only updates without result is no fun at all.

it is perfectly okay to post the results, i personally get to watch the episode one week late (in dubai it is telecast on friday & sun)and do not mind knowing things in advance. people who have problems with results in advance should not read the posts. nobody is forcing them to come & read. it is their individual choice. because of a few people please do not deprive others the chance to know the results. thanks.

Will Aadesh return to Challenge?
By: Sandipan Dalal
September 7, 2005

SITTING ON THE FENCE: Shaan

The war between mentors Aadesh Shrivastava and Ismail Darbar on Zee's daily Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge has put the show in a spot. Healthy competition has gone for a toss and the programme's director Gajendra Singh is caught in the tussle, with pressure mounting from the channel.

Singer Shaan, who hosts the Challenge, opens up about the crisis to hitList …

What's your take on the differences between the mentors?
The entire issue is a little touchy as I've sung for all the music directors and know them well. At some point, the channel proposed that we should continue the show with three mentors.

But I don't think we can do away with Aadesh Shrivastava after 25 episodes already on air with him, keeping in mind that he's popular on the show. It's time we resolved the differences and moved on.

Why did the showdown happen?
The bottom line is that Aadeshji and Ismailji's gharanas comprise the toughest contenders. The emotional bond between the mentor and his contestants is so strong that they tend to take everything personally.

Initially, these two mentors were the friendliest and I'd never imagined things taking such a turn. They used to get upset but would gradually make up, except this time.

Did you ever foresee such a crisis on the show?
When Gajendraji came up with the concept, I was quite sceptical. I told him it would be a difficult show, with such established music directors. Once we started off, things were under control.

When things were getting bitter between them, I thought it was a temporary phase and hardly imagined such far-reaching consequences.

Do you think Aadesh Srivastava will come back?
Talks are on and I guess he's coming back for the sake of his students, if not for the show. But replacing him is definitely not on the cards.

And if we divide his students among the other three gharanas, it will be the worst possible mistake. At the same time, we need to shoot for our next episode in a week's time. Let's see what happens.

Have you done anything to bring things under control?
It's a dicey situation. I didn't have a word with Aadeshji, as he might think the channel coaxed me to get him back. At the same time, I feel I should talk to him, but there's too much pressure and things might swing out of control.

How have the contestants reacted to the cold vibes between the mentors?
We have taken a break after this crisis and I haven't interacted with them, so I don't know how they feel.

Do you think this issue is hampering the competition?
The participants are new and raw and such a mishap can shake them up. But I'm sure their mentors will make things easy for them.

What makes Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge better than Sony's Fame Gurukul?
I think the focus on music is minuscule in Fame. I've seen the show a few times and the contestants do a lot of things, which have nothing to do with their musical talent. Except Arpita Mukherjee, who has been a Sa Re Ga Ma Pa winner, other contestants are very average.

Rajeev, Himani do the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for Lajmi's film
Each time people in Mehla Village, 12 km away from Chamba, switch on their TV sets to watch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa's Challenge on Zee TV, their faces beam with pride and affection. Because from this little village in Chamba comes Rajeev Kaushal who was selected by Adesh Shrivastav and Kalpana Lajmi to sing an alaap and a thumri in their forthcoming film, Chingari.

Owner of a little fast food joint in Mehla, Rajeev has now becomes the hero of the village. Everybody's talking about him, including the film's director, Kalpana Lajmi. Rajeev and his rakhi sister, Himani, will be doing an alaap and a thumri each for Lajmi's film.

Though he had no formal training in music, Rajeev auditioned for the challenge from Delhi after watching the ad on TV. He was selected at the first shot. "My voice is nature's gift to me and my parents. Who could have imagined that a person who runs a fast food centre would appear on TV someday? I run the fast food stall because I love cooking and love to be around young people," said Rajeev.

With latenights rehearsals becoming an everyday routine, and a change in lifestyle Rajeev is slowly beginning to miss home. "I came back after spending a week with family and friends in Mehla. I can't forget the love they showered on me. Elders from Chamba met me, organised a meeting and gave me advice on how to keep my cool and not get nervous," recollects Rajeev. "I am very happy that Aadeshji and Lajmiji thought I was capable of doing an

alaap in a movie. When Aadeshji took me to Lajmiji, all that she said was 'aapne rooh se gaana (sing from your soul).' The alaap was okayed in the first shot. Mein toh dhanya ho gaya (I feel gratified)," says Rajeev. Son of an ex-service man and a housewife, Rajeev says, "Whether I win or lose, I will give my best. If a guru has trusted me on singing an alaap, which only a trained voice can do, I will not let him down," says Rajeev confidently.

Niladri really sang very well last last night....his veer zaara song was almost faultless and in my opinion he deserved to win....earlier even i did not like his singing...his 'Chood aaye hum" from macchis was pretty pathetic.

But yesterday was a different day...seems like ismail is really working hard on his students.
