Anol - please dont feel sorry for something so great as Retro Cafe... Yes, you introduced Adi, Anu and myself to Retro cafe and we will always be thankful to you for giving us something so refreshing...

Yes, you asked for our help to promote it, but believe me - I was myself so overwhelmed when I first listened to it that I just wanted to share the same with all other members of the forum.. Yes you correctly said, there are many younger members of this forum, who are not even aware of the musical genius that our film industry has been blessed with.. and as matured and responsible members, its our duty to introduce them to something that great...

I am not sorry for promoting Cafe and sharing something with all that I genuinely believed in... Yes, I am sad that a section of the crowd thought that it amounted to spamming!

We have seen 'n' number of topics being opened everyday to discuss everything from Twinkle's hair to her love story to Sharib getting late to what not... And we have spent pages discussing that.. Wonder what was so musical about that... We have seen just zillions of posts (even in non member interaction threads) just wishing each other Hi and Bye - wondering why that did not amount to Spamming... We had same pictures of some bollywood actors being posted again and again and again in multiple threads.. Wondering why that was not termed repitative...

I am sorry if I have hurt anyone's feelings here - we all have a different set of preferences here, and I thought that we all were matured enough to accomodate it all... But looks like that is not the case!

Why make an effort to spread good music taste amongst some teens? 200+ pages of 'hi everyone' or copy pasting some chain mails are great value add – no?

I would suggest Qwestda, Vijay and Swar_Raj to stop posting all those great articles – it's a crime to spam the forum with the 'musical' articles.

And Rahul / Shady / Punjini / Jadoo – why you guys are wasting your time with those long debates – very few are actually interested in those – that should be considered as spamming too.

It was just a suggestion from Lalit and I did agree with his beliefs but I do think that you're taking this personally.
It'll soon be an year now that I've been on IF and anyone who knows me here can attest to the fact that I'm not against promoting classic HFM amongst the young kids here on IF. I've blessed people like Abhi and Madhavi because I've been impressed with their interest in the classics of the "golden era".
As has been suggested before, promotion of music is definitely not wrong but its overdoing it which probably has irked some over here.

Not fair to bring up their posts in this context. Those are nice posts that invoke thought and discussion amongst the members.
Now, if Qwest ji (for example) types in "Rabindra Nath Thakur is the best👏 " in every single thread, yes that would be spam...

This does seem to be another example that you're taking it personally. Please, it was not meant to be a criticism of you or anyone posting those messages. I always thought constructive criticism was encouraged here and this is what Lalit ji, T ji offered...

I guess the right thing for me would be to apologize to you and
Jaya/Adi/Anu. Hope no hard feelings - I'll try to keep my mouth shut in future...

Okay now cool down everyone. As juggy said maybe it has been over promoted so some have been irked.

Lets carry the promotion on our siggy and not post it here in every topic. We can also use the SRGMP Challenge Topic to anounce about the retro cafe.

Also I would like to mention here something more. Some members are just posting Hi Hello in different topics not just repeat pictures. That is also spamming. There are many who reply by just posting few emoticons innumerable times in a single topic. Or just say Himesh(HR) or Saptak.. Rocks!!!!!! Even that is spamming. Please stop that too.

My only reason to raise this issue was to tell that dont overdo it
My original tone was harsh (use of 😡 emoticons was liberal) so I decided to edit it (thanks Priya di for pointing out).

No one is objecting to the great threads abt the musical maestros here
They have their own separate topics which one can avoid or read based on the topic subject

My concern was that readability and flow of all topics were being affected due to these posts which appear in random without any sense or relevance to the topic and looks very similar to spamming

Thanks Bhaskar and Anol for taking my rambling in the spirit that it was meant in. It was never a criticism against you or the other mods or the other members promoting podcast...

I sincerely do believe that it was being overdone. Its already been suggested that we include this as an announcement or a signature. Hows this one, a pop-up message for the people who log in (probably, can only be for a new session). Of course, this would have to be implemented by the dev team...

Quick Q though - any idea who's in charge of the content of the podcasts? Do they take requests/suggestions?

You can send in your requests either to kirti.b or anol or me.

The retros of Madan Mohan and SDB were on requests of members of this forum, so we are in fact, not just open to request, but want it too. We want requests and we want feedback.

wow, I went to nap and woke up to this. I am very happy all is settled and agree there are many forms of spamming.

I just think this section takes things too seriously than most of indian forums itself. I only found this tobe trus as I began visiting other sections.At ist I thought maybe Indianforumns had its own unique rules since I serve the web alot and visit many sites indian and american(intellectual, and non-intellectual).

When I ventured to other sectiions out of sa re ga ma pa I saw atmosphere relaxing, yet not as tight knit as we are here, so maybe why things get out ofcontrol.

I am sure thst the administrator Vijay opened this place so we may all enjoy.

I agree that maybe too some the retrocafe wasbeing over promoted, yet it happens tobe a valuable part of indianforums so no harm. ( I appreciate and applaud the efforts)

In terms of other things mentioned of spamming we alldo it though not intentionally. since spamming here as another meaning than other websites(though we should respect the rules once we are aware). Yet not get serious
about it.

My request is please lets make sa re ga ma pa an enjoyable section and not let emotions run high.

This is the very reason I am here less and less(that is to this particular section) since there is always something going on here.

While majority of us who visit just want to relax and enjoy without too many restrictions.
