The reason why Retro Cafe subscription request was taken to the different threads on Pg 1 was because when the thread to Join Retro was posted the first time in the Saregamapa section, very few actually went in and posted there or inquired about it. With a volley of threads on EMAET trivia, The Retro Cafe thread found itself in Page 4 in no time. Since there was a restriction on the number of sticky threads, it couldn't be made a sticky either.

Retro Cafe concept is a great effort by Vijay (Admin),Priya and the other IF dev teams to reconnect us people with some of the finest songs from the past , to open a whole lot of learning doors for the present generations to know what our rich musical heritage is all about and also cater to present needs.

The message was lost to many people.The response was less than lukewarm. The only other way of introducing these people was by taking the thread to their thread of interest.So that in between reading about Twinkle's hair one would look up and see what Retro was.

I know for sure it worked because the next day i had several PM's -some requesting clarifications, some saying how much they appreciate the effort and some enquiring what would be my personal commission in the whole thing how much was I being paid to do it!!!

So this is how the journey had started. I felt you all should be aware why the spamming was done.

JuggyE sometimes the textbook ways does not work. Lalith if Twinkle's hair, Vishwanath's joke's column had a retro ad I do not think it disturbed the fluidity or continuity of the thread.

Coolest one/T - if you had cared to check you would have found that this time round most of us are advertising the show through our siggy's. But for the first two times if I had a subscribe to Retro in my siggy would it have interested anybody?? NO!! But now that people know about Retro and appreciate it for its worth, when my siggy displays visit Retro cafe for SD Burman special ..people will take note.. had I had this before intruducing to Retro..no one would have bothered.

That's all I have to say.

Retro Cafe has found the subscribers - people who have heard it are already addicted to it.Our purpose was achieved and now we'll let Retro talk for itself !!

1) I only spoke up as I saw a bunch of ads abt Epi # 9 in the posts yesterday.

2) I did note that some were advertising RC through sigs, which is a good thing.

3) I chatted with Priya and understand the logic behind the aggressive advertising. Had this been clarified earlier, the debate would have ended then and there.

4) How about we get thinking about who the mysterious person in the RC contest is and close this topic? 😛

very well said adi.. 👏 Many youth like me never had the opportunity to listen to these songs.. think about the people in US and CANADA and other countries.. dont u think this is a boon to them to listen to these songs.. Jus see, u can always burn a CD for it and play for the old ppl who would luv to listen to these songs.. and only if u know about Retro Cafe, u will be able to do all this.. otherwise ur missing something in life for sure

Guys as I was pointing out the earlier retro cafe is important and members are just getting information out.

I have told several people and they luv it. Also itcost nothing another treat 😊
