Rajat Verma on working with Sumbul Touqeer: “Our bond keeps growing stronger”

Actor Rajat Verma, currently seen as Virat in the popular television show Itni Si Khushi, recently opened up about his experience working alongside his co-star Sumbul Touqeer. Known for his charming screen presence, Rajat spoke warmly about the bond he shares with Sumbul, both on and off the sets.

From script readings to strong bonding moments

Rajat revealed that their connection was instant from the very first day. “Working with Sumbul has been really great because from day one, we instantly clicked—even during our script readings. We’ve become really good friends. She’s so much fun to hang out with and to work with. On top of that, she’s an incredibly talented actress. When your co-actor is good, there’s always so much to learn, and the give-and-take in scenes naturally makes your performance better. It’s always fun to work with her, and our bond keeps growing stronger,” he said.

He added that their mutual understanding has made their performances stand out. “We understand each other’s likes, dislikes, and ways of approaching scenes. That comfort reflects on screen, and the audience also appreciates our bond. We truly feel blessed,” Rajat shared.

When asked about memorable moments from the shoot, Rajat recalled two that remain special. “There are plenty of scenes that felt unforgettable. One was when Virat was apologizing and confessing in front of Anvita in his quirky way—saying, ‘I don’t want my son to tease your daughter, so let’s do it together.’ It was his way of saying ‘I love you,’ and we laughed so much while shooting it. Another time, during an outdoor shoot in extremely hot weather, there was a scene where Anvita was falling and I had to catch her. We were drenched in sweat, and Sumbul kept cracking jokes while filming—it turned into such a fun memory.”

Talking about his character, Rajat explained, “What I like about Virat is that he never gives up easily. He values relationships deeply, and once he forms a bond, he will go to great lengths to make the other person happy. The only part I don’t relate to is that he’s a charmer and flirtatious. I’m very shy in real life, so portraying that was definitely a challenge for me.”

Looking ahead, Rajat teased exciting twists in Virat’s journey. “His mysterious side will soon unfold and add complexity to the story. His bond with Anvita will be highlighted further, showing how his struggles affect their relationship. My character is flawed, yet deeply in love, and I want people to relate to the innocence of first love and college romance. If the audience feels that connection, I’ll know my job is done.”

With his sincerity and natural chemistry with Sumbul Touqeer, Rajat Verma continues to win hearts, making Virat one of the standout characters in Itni Si Khushi.
