This one is from 'Yahaan' - 2005 release... Lyrics by Gulzar, and music by 'Parineeta' famed Shantanu Moitra... here are the complete lyrics

Chann se bole chamake jab charaar bole
kwaab dekha hai aankh ka khumaar bole
kwaab chalke toh aankh se tapake bole
channa chlake toh poora aabshaar bole
urzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkut
la la la laa
urzu urzdurkut
tank tank tank tank tana tana

hare kwaab ki yeh hari choodiyan
kalayi mein kisne bhari choodiyan
uti neend se chali aayi mein
saath hi aagayi meri choodiyan

ankh bole kwab kwab deelthe raho
roz koyi ek chand bhelte raho
chaand toote toh tukde tukde baatlena
bol pahiyaan hai raat din takelte raho
urzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkut
lala la

urzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkut
Chann se bole chamke jab charaar bole
kwaab dekha hai aankh ka khumaar bole
kwaab chalke toh aankh se tapake bole
channa chlake toh poora aabshaar bole
urzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkut
la laa la
urzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkut
la laa la

Edi : Heel , rounded back part of foot sole

usually in Urdu , "edi say dhool ura " type expressions are found ,which is understood . ( if you watch a person from behind while he is walking on sand ,with every step you feel if edi (heel) say dhool urh rahi ho )

you find relevance of Dhoop with Edi , when you observe the first stanza ,where he described other natural phenomena :

Tairi kamar kay bal pay nadi muda karti thee...

ofcourse nahee mud nahee sakti kamar kay bal pay 😆 it is the imagination of a lover😉 ( comon in poetry)

same way the second stanza start with :

Jahan tairi edi say dhoop ura karti thee .

here he borrowed the expression " Edi say dhool urna" and just use the imagination of a lover for whom the sunshine is only because of his beloved "

he also used the expression because in the second line . he mentioned opposite expression of sunshine : Sham . sham is some times also use for sadness \ end of the day \hopelessness

Great explanation Dawn ji 👏👏👏

Found this at 15 Best Lyrics of Gulzar

What are your top 5 of Gulzar?

Gulzar, is a name synonymous with some of the best songs of Bollywood. Being an erstwhile fan of his songs, I wish to put down in a list, what I feel are his best songs. It is not easy to do so, as with all other similar kinds of lists, but I am gonna have a go at it. So here we are friends with the top 15 poems, which have been penned by Gulzar.

1) Hamne Dekhi hai in aankhon - Khamoshi. This song is one that really moves me. The lyrics, the music everything. The lyrics are amazing from the word go.. 'hamane dekhii hai in aankhon kii mahakatii khushabuu haath se chhuuke ise rishton kaa ilzaam na do sirf ehasaas hai ye ruuh se mahasuus karo pyaar ko pyaar hii rahane do koii naam na do' Isnt it amazing, what these

words are conveying. Awesome.

2) Ae zindagi Gale lagale : Sadma ;Another awesome song, sung with gusto by Suresh Wadkar... 'chhoTaa saa saayaa thaa, aankhon men aayaa thaa hamne do boonndo se man bhar liyaa, hamako kinaaraa mil gayaa hai zindagii.' Songs like these are classics my dear friends..

3) Bole Re papi hara - Guddi _ This song I have included, for the sheer listening pleasure. Vani Jairam has indeed done a marvelous job here.

4) Chod aaye ham - Maachis. This film had some amazing songs. And the song I have mentioned has amazing lyrics. Even two lines like the one mentioned below, conveys a whole lot of things 'jahaan terii eDii se, dhuup udaa karatii thii sunaa hai us chaukhaT pe, ab shaam rahaa karatii hai'

5) Dil Dhoondta - Mausam. Amazing lyrics, amazing rendition of the song. My most favorite para here is the last one that goes as follows - 'barfiilii sardiyon mein kisii bhii pahaad par * 2 vaadii mein goonnjtii huii khaamoshiyaan sunen aaNkhon mein bhiige bhiige se lamhe liye hue'

6) Ek Akela is shaher - Gharonda. Once again a moving rendition of this amazing song by Bhupinder. Amazing lyrics as usual, that strike straight at your heart. 'din khaalii khaalii bartan hain, aur raat hai jaise andhaa kuNvaan in suunii andherii aaNkhon mein, aaNsU kii jagah aataa hain dhuNvaan jiine kii vajah to koI nahiin, marane kaa bahaanaa DhuuNDhataa hai'

7) Hamko Man ki shakti Dena - Guddi. This is an amazing prayer written for the film. What amazes me is the sheer power conveyed through the song. It says the most amazing thing, which we ignore most of the times. This is what I like best about this song - the mukhada. 'hamako manakii shakti denaa, mana vijaya karen duusaronkii jaya se pahale, khudakii jaya karen '

8) Huzur is kadar bhi na - Masoom. This playful song was set beautifully by R.D.Burman, and sung equally teasingly by Bhupinder and Suresh Wadkar. The lyrics are cool. Sample this - 'koI manachalaa gar pakaD legaa aaNchal zaraa sochiye aap kyaa kijiyegaa lagaa dein agar badhke zulfon mein kaliyaaN to kyaa apanii zulfen jhaTak diijiyegaa'

9) Mera Kuch saamaan - Ijaazat. The wholse song is sheer poetry. Just Listen.

10) Tujhse naaraz nahi - Masoom. Just a fabulous song here jiine ke liye sochaa hii na thaa, dard sambhaalane honge muskuraauuN to, muskuraane ke karz uThaane honge muskuraauu.N kabhii to lagataa hai jaise honThon pe karz rakhaa hai

11) Tum Pukar Lo - Khamoshi. This song is so cool.Sung by Hemant Kumat, the words are just great. The first antra is so fab...listen 'honTh pe liye hue dil kii baat ham jaagate rahenge aur kitanii raat ham muqtasar sii baat hai tum se pyaar hai tumhaaraa intazaar hai, tum pukaar lo '

12) Woh sham kuch ajeeb - Khamoshi. This film did have gems didnt it? this is yet another gem. And the words are just to be listened to. Nothing to explain, nothing to talk about. Just listen - dilse.

13) Aaap Ki aankhon me kuch - Ghar : This is a great duet song. Kishore and Lata have excelled here to do full justice to this song. Take a look at thi antra, specially the last line..just too much 'lab hile to mogare ke phuul khilate hai.n kahii.n - 2 aap kii aa.Nkho.n me.n kyaa saahil bhii milate hai.n kahii.n aap kii khaamoshiyaa.N bhii aap kii aavaaz hai.n'.

14) Is mod se jaate hain - Andhi. This was a cool film, great performances, and the songs were amazing. This is one such song. Check out these lyrics.. 'aaNdhii kii tarah uDakar ik raah guzaratii hai * 2 sharamaatii huii koii qadamon se utaratii hai in reshamii raahon mein ik raah to vo hogii tum tak jo pahunchatii hai is moD se jaatii hai is moD se jaate hain'

15) Maine Tere Liye - Anand . I just love this song.In fact I love all songs from this film. An amazing film this. Just check out these lyrics.. 'chhoTii baatein chhoTii chhoTii baaton kii hai yaadein baDii bhuule nahiin biitii huI ek chhoTii ghaDii janam janam se aaNkhen bichhaaI tere liye in raahon mein' Each song here is a gem..

Saathiya: Little lighter mood – but still magic of Gulzar is in action. Who can thought of the line like Zulf ke neeche gardan pe / Subah-o-shaam milti rahe apart from Gulzar!

Saathiya, saathiya
Maddham maddham teri geeli hansi
Saathiya, saathiya
Sunke humne saari pee li hansi
(Hansti rahe tu hansti rahe
Haya ki laali khilti rahe
Zulf ke neeche gardan pe
Subah-o-shaam milti rahe) - 2
Saundi si hansi teri khilti rahe milti rahe
Peeli dhoop pehenke tum dekho baag mein mat jaana
Bhanwre tumko sab chhedenge, phoolon mein mat jaana
Maddham maddham hans de phir se
Sona sona phir se hans de
Taaza gire patte ki tarah sabz-e-laan par lete hue
Saat rang hai bahaaron ke, ek ada mein lapete hue
Saawan bhaadon saare tumse
Mausam mausam hanste rehna
Maddham maddham hanste rehna
Saathiya, saathiya
Maddham maddham teri geeli hansi
Saathiya, saathiya
Sunke humne saari pee li hansi
Kabhi neeli aasmaan pe chalo ghoomne chale hum
Koi abr mil gaya to zameen pe baras le hum
Teri baali hil gayi hai
Kabhi shab chamak uthi hai, kabhi shaam khil gayi hai
Tere baalon ki panaah mein yeh siyaah raat guzre
Teri kaali kaali aankhen koi ujli baat utre
Teri ek hansi ke badle
Meri yeh zameen le le, mera aasmaan le le
Saathiya, saathiya
Maddham maddham teri geeli hansi
Saathiya, saathiya
Sunke humne saari pee li hansi
Barf giri ho vaadi mein
Un mein lipti simti hui
Barf giri ho vaadi mein
Aur hansi teri goonje
Un mein lipti simti hui
Vaat kare, dhuaan nikle
Garm garm ujla dhuaan, narm narm ujhla dhuaan

I guess what was meant here is that...

those who are moving ahead clinging themselves to a support, let it be... don't even try to change that, it will only make the situation miserable...

Dariya was only used as the metaphor here

t could also depend on situation

if it is romance..then could be those who are in love let them flow with its fragrance and do not stop them

If the person is sad then could be let the person be lost in his situation (Colud be alchhol) Do not open their wounds

my 2 cents
