There is no use to say anything to those , who are not motivated to change and clung to the predifined paths.

Unmotivated people can't progress by making new ways.

( River usually chages its way and makes new way , or can say crosses the limits of bank during some kind of flood(josh) other wise usually stay with in its limit)

I think this can be use for a nation if generalized .

Dekha mainne usse...cannot remember rest as it has been more then a decade that I am out of touch of hindi poems...but see where you donot see this..every where where contruction is. But he is in reality not seeing a pather being broken in pieces. But he was referring to hard ship of life . Sometimes they really donot make sense...but then you have to go deep down in the meaning and lol it makes a difference and u can see the connection.

Some times yes u just have to do fill in the blanks and the mood you are in...u will see the meaning in same way. That is why the explanation of poem is not east.
Not sure which poem or song it is..could not click it....if a movie song..then meaning of rest could be in the scene there.

In the first line, he is not talking about the river - he is talking abt 'jo sahil se behta hai' - the implicayion is it is not a stream at all that he is talking about. but something he compares t a stream

When I first heard this song – it straightaway painted the portrait of my Grandfather in my mind. After partition – coming from Bangladesh – staying in Kolakata as a refugee – years of struggle, even tremendous financial crisis were never able to wash the memories of his place of birth Fareedpur, Bangladesh, even 50 years after that he was able to recollect all the sweet and sour memoirs – and I was able to see 'that world' through his eyes. Time passed by – but he was never able to de-touch himself from those "lamhe". Till his last day he was still living with that, never wanted to change – in culture, dialect and many other things.

Last month my Grandfather passed away after long term suffering from abdominal cancer.

In1994, soon after RD's demise, Gulzar & HMV came up with one of the best ever tribute albums. This album is all about Gulzar's memories of moments that he shared with Pancham. A nostalgic trip down memory lane. The album also contains some rare voice clippings of RD during recordings from Gulzar's personal collection. The songs are all, but obviously, Gulzar-RD. One great thing about the album is the commentary by Gulzar. It weaves its magical spell on you along with the songs and RD's clippings that it becomes difficult to leave the album unfinished once you start playing it, no matter how many times you have gone through it before. The best part is of course the rare song clippings in RD's own voice.
