Yeah, mum, dad and I went on a window closing spree. Where are you in Dilli? I am near the North Campus.

Vasundhara Enclave (East Delhi), it lies between Mayur Vihar and Noida. Where are you in North Campus?

O ghata savari, thodi thodi baavri is another beautiful song. Wow. and the whole picturisation and everything is just so nice.

Speaking of Hema Malini, another of her songs which I like is "Itne din aankhen tarsayegi, ek din toh badal barsegai, aye mere pyaase man, aaj basegi, phir mehekegi khaabon ki mehfil". The picturisation is just Hema Malini wandering around in her house, but the song is very beautiful. Sung by Lata Mangeshkar, for the movie Naya Zamana.

O ghata savari, thodi thodi baavri was simply beautiful... Hema looked absolutely gorgeous.. Another Hema Malini favourite of mine is 'Do naino me aansoo bhare hai, nindia kahaa se aaye' from Parichay... Lovely song sung by Lata'ji.. wonderful composition by Pancham.. and Hema looks great.. Also love the song 'ghar jayegi' from the same movie where Hema is finally ready to go to her sasural after long years..

Another fav of mine from the same combination with Rajesh Khanna added. It's from the movie Khamoshi.

Woh Shaam Kuch Ajeeb Thhi, Yeh Shaam Bhi Kuch Ajeeb Hai.

Love that song. Infact I like all the songs from this movie. It's tragic in the end but good movie.

Will mention "Tum pukar lo" by Hemant'da from the same movie... I think that is equally, if not a better song... Waheeda was absolutely great in that song and the movie... Will also like to mention the original bengali movie "Deep jele jei" from which "Khamoshi" was remade.. Suchitra Sen is the protagonist there, and that has the song

"Ei raat tomar amar...." (I guess "Tum pukar lo" was used in the same situation) - where the girl (Suchitra/Waheeda), the nurse, comes to know that her patient (with whom she was asked to act a lover to cure him up) is getting married to someone else... Wonderful composition and the pain in picturisation still haunts me...

The same tune was later used by Hemant da in "Yeh nayan dare dare"

And what about the songs from Aandhi....

When Sanjeev Kumar takes a break from singing and says "is baar Amaavasya 15 saal lambi ho gayi"..... my heart beat just stops.... 😛

Tere bina zindagi se shikwaa toh nahi....

And of course

Tum aa gaye ho, noor aa gaya hai.... What a song... and the whole scene is just picturised so beautifully.

hemantda was AWESOME

Yes - you are right.. both "Do naino me" and "Ghar jayegi" are from Khusboo... Somehow, instead of "Khushboo" I wrote "Parichay" 😛

Song from Sujatha..... the famous Telephone song..

"Jalte hain jiske liye, teri aankhon ke liye, doond laaya hoon wahi, geet main tere liye...."

Sunil Dutt on the phone with a sobbing Nutan on the other end of the phone, again romance at its height.

I like many numbers along with their picturization. many have been mentioned already by others - tum pukar lo and others. (I am sorry I couldnt read all 33 pages of it, cos I thought I might forget the song thats coming to my mind right now).
I like the picturization of 'O mere Pyaari Bindu' from Padosan (laughed my heart out).
And from latest (not so latest) - Main koi aisa geet gaoon from Yes Boss (find it cute). Whenever I feel depressed I just switch on these songs.

I too haven't read all 30+ pages (sorry Abhi) just don't have the time. I've sneaked into random pages and read some of your memories. 😊

Some Oldies:
~Pag Ghungaroo Baandh from Namak Halaal
~Mere Saamne Waali Khidki Mein from Padosan
~Hum Tum Ek Kamre Me Band Ho from Bobby

Some New:
~Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam from DDLJ
...actually...all DDLJ songs. 😊

Do I really need to explain my picks? These are some rather well known and well liked songs - they're some of my favorites.

Of my absolutle favorite I would have to say Raat Kali Ek Khwaab Me Aayi from Buddha Mil Gaya and Tujhe Dekha to Yeh Jaana Sanam from DDLJ. I think these songs in themselves are beautiful and very romantic. The picturisation is well done as well - the actors reflect the emotions so well.
