I'm quite disappointed to see a no. of posts opened in last few weeks declaring Vinit as another Rafi born. This only speaks volumes of ignorance of current generation in understanding what Rafi Sahab was. For that matter any singer who established a niche in the Golden era, won't be born again.
Rafi sahab was a singer par excellence; there is hardly any other singer who is as versatile as him. He was a true blessing to the people of India from God. He has sung all categories of songs, right from classical songs to qawaali, ghazal, bhajan, thumri & several semiclassical Hindi Film songs.
Other than being a very good singer, he was a very good person. Once Nisar Bazmi ( a composer who moved to Pakistan in 1960) didn't have money to pay Rafi da then Rafi saab charged him only 1 Re/song…!! Can we expect this from singers today..?
He has been awarded many honours, filmfare awards plus Padamshree by Govt. of India. To reach anyway near him will remain a dream for 1000 years…!
So I humbly request every one to desist from comparing any budding singer with the legends like Rafisahab / Kishoreda/Yesudaas or others.
