excuse me ....what do u mean by hindi music ,is hindi the benchmark for being a legend.I dont think so,this is how regionalism comes in.Music is a universal language and irrespective of what language he composed for, good music is good music and thats how it works.Same goes for every musician in thois country.
how can u say first indian and then tamils and stuff isnt tamil a part of india and why shld only hindi be the standard to rate good musicians, good actors and others ,isnt that wrong ......

thts wrong ....ask all the people who know music and they will say ilayraja is indeed a legend. One should appreciate good music, just bcoz he hasnt composed in hindi /bollwood doesnt make him less worthy.I can say the same for himdi music directors who are not heard in south india so does that make them less worthy (some of them) .

see music is universal and should be respected and appreciated. If many agree that ARR is a legend and so is illayraja ,they are and language should not be the barrier to judge whether they are legends or not .

I am hurt by the post of urs.No offense just hurt when someone speaks of illayraja and ARR just bcoz they havent composed enough bollywood songs

because thats the national language. I think you are putting regionalism here, by not accepting the facts

In this forum we talk about something on national channel, national musicians/actors and ARR is not tested extensively in national level. That does not mean he is no good. I never said that too, but he is no way a legend. He is way to go to

Niraj,

Question for SnileJ is what makes a legend? If he has answered it, I havent read it as this post became too large.

Sorry man. You have tried your best to make these thick-headed people understand. I'll help you out with an example:

More people in this world have heard of Britney Spears than R.D.Burman. She is a legend and he is not. Besides, he has only made his mark in a regional language like Hindi, whereas Britney has done it in the universal language - English.

Is that a good example??
