Would love to add another great song on to this list "Aayo kahan se ghanshyam"...

Some rare facts about Pancham da:

When S D Burman lifted tune:

Around 1950-51 Pancham was doing studies in Calcutta and S D Burman saab came down to see him. He had plans to take him to
Bombay which was shot down by Pancham's grandmother. When taking leave back to Bombay SDB asked Pancham if he has composed any tune. Pancham hummed and played around 15 tunes. Nearly after a year, one day while listening to a song on AIR, Pancham blurted: My God, that's my tune, it was song called ae meri topi palat ke (Funtoosh), it was composition of S D Burman, which means he remembered

that tune of Pancham & flicked it…

Pancham meets Kishore da:

In 1950 one day when Pancham was sitting in Kardar studio in Bombay, he noticed a man wearing muffler & black cap. He was imitating every one, who ever came to the studio including the legend Lata tai.. then he started singing with the lead singers aur sare gano ka satyanash kar raha tha, Pancham asked why he was doing so, he said: I'm an orphan, no body looks after me please give me a chance, Pancham gave him a hearty laugh…..

Heavy influence of Jazz on Pancham's music:

Pancham was very fond of Jazz music which taught him two things:
1. Improvise over the composed music, in Jazz they improvise just a sign line or few bars.
2. To pick clues to compose.

Tunes coming in dreams:

Panchamoften noticed tunes coming to him in dreams, following songs came to him in dreams:

1. Kanchi re Kanchi re ( Hare rama hare Krishna
)
2. Duniya me logo ko (Apna Desh)
3. Tum bin jao kaha (Pyar ka mausam)

Did not have time to read all of the comments but note that RDB composed
Tel Maalish from Pyassa when he was a kid and his father used it.
