Talk of lyris (that too meaningful) and the first name that flashes in my mind is majrooh Sultanpuri. He formed the backbone of excellent lyrics for several musicians, but his combination with R D Burma was out of the World. He was also instrumental in introducing RDB to Shammi Kapoor.

Known for his strong inclination toward left ism it was obvious that he wrote poetry for several political speeches. He ha d a established practice of medicine (Unani) in Sultanpur when he got invited into Bombay and became a fixture for Bollywood.

This is the man who writes unforgettable poetry like Main akela hi chala tha jaanib-e-manzil magar, Log saath aate gaye aur kaaravaan bantaa gayaa. (I set out alone towards my goal, but others kept joining me on the way and my journey became a procession)

Do you all know when wrote the lyrics for Khamoshi (Jatin_lalit), he was 90 years old yet he could deliver poetry like

aaj mai upar
aasman neeche
aaj main aage
zamana hai peeche

I would love to see non-bollywood songs or songs in any other languages I have heard some tamil and telugu songs, though i do not understand but i loved the music and keep on listening to those!
