😊 NIHIRA and HEMCHANDRA are the best

Debojit's 'ai jindegi' is superb. He had cracked once, but did the complete justice to the tough song. Hema was fantastic on his performance. The range was very good. Vinit's 'sandeshe aatein hain' was an average one, as he performed better in past dificcult songs. This song was an average one and HR's hype was too much.

Let's vote for Debojit and Nihira . If Nihira goes down, Himani will be the closest one.

Now, 'ULFA' guns for Sa Re Ga Ma

MUMBAI: A group claiming to be the militant United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) recently called the brand manager of the Zee TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge to ensure that an Assamese contestant, Debojit, was not eliminated.

Ashish Golwalkar, the brand manager of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge , said, "I was in Ahmedabad when I got the phone. I felt as if the man calling me was on a speaker phone since I could hear a group of 8-10 people in the background. He was not fluent in either Hindi or English. He first said that he was calling me from the Debojit fan club and accused us of being partial against him. When I tried to reason with him, he threatened me, saying he was the commander of the ULFA.

"He then sad we were deliberately trying to put down Debojit . He even said that the Zee TV server was creating problems, which he had checked out. I tried to explain to him that there was no partiality involved and I tried to cut the conversation short.

"However, these people kept calling me and saying there was a conspiracy against Debojit. I was terrified, and I avoided the calls since I was busy myself. I think these people must be fanatic fans or they may have really been from the ULFA. I have no clue but the entire experience was very scary. My name comes in the credit lines, but I still don't understand how they managed to get my number. I called the producer of the show Gajendra Singh and informed him."

The Sa Re Ga Ma Challenge is a singing competition aired on Zee TV every Thursday and Friday. It began with 32 contestants and is now down to four — Debojit, Hemchandra, Vinit and Himani. Eliminations are based on public votes.

Gowalikar said, "We will obviously not give in to such tactics. At the end of the day, the show is more important than anything else."

When contacted, Gajendra Singh said, "This is the tenth year of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and we have maintained certain standards. These kind of incidents happen, but I guess these groups should understand that this is a talent show and no political party or organisation is involved."

The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is a violent organisation that wants to establish Assam as a separate country, independent of India, while also establishing a socialist government to rule the "Assam country"

The group was formed on April 7, 1979 and has since waged an armed conflict against the Indian state The ULFA has a clearly partitioned political and military wing ULFA's membership is predominantly from the Assam region, specifically the northern districts.

There are other insurgent groups too that have a stronger membership base in the southern areas of Assam. The ULFA has forged working relationships with some of the other insurgent groups in the region

Darbar back to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Is it a publicity stunt?


Ismail Darbar walks out of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in a huff. A couple of days later, he returns to the show. Both instances grab audience and reader attention. Aadesh Srivastava stages a walk-out, again from Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, after an on-camera spat with a fellow judge. Judges Ila Arun and Javed Akhtar of Fame Gurukul display a show of temper. Are these real fights or simply reality show sound bytes? Are viewers being taken for a ride as reality shows continue to make headlines, and so up their TRPs, through well-publicised jhagdas? In a swift reversal of decision, Ismail Darbar has agreed to return to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge. Only a couple of days ago he had stormed out of the sets of the show, on-camera, when his favourite candidate Nihira Joshi was eliminated from the final rounds.

Darbar claims he felt suffocated by the goings-on in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge. "My heart is broken. I left Mumbai and came home to Surat," he says. "However, for the sake of the show, I've decided to return."

Speaking from Surat, he adds, "I'm very upset by the public's decision to oust Nihira. Everyone knows how well she sings. I feel there's a conspiracy afoot to eliminate my other candidate Debojit Saha too. The other judges have deliberately given him less marks on this week's episode. Can't people recognise quality when they hear it? Just because Nihira can't wear revealing clothes or dance, should she be eliminated? Is that how we have ever judged our greatest singers, like Lataji?"

Darbar claims that he doesn't favouring only his own disciples on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge. "Himani and Vinit aren't my students. But I've always praised them whole-heartedly," he argues. "Vinit sang a difficult line from 'Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya' to perfection, and I said so."

Meanwhile producer-director Gajendra Singh is happy to have Darbar back. "When Ismailji walked out, I thought the show would collapse," he says.

I think it is a publicity stunt. Judges on most game shows create scenes only to attract public attention. If they really believe in something strongly, then it does make sense to stand up for it. But as far as the recent Challenge controversy, I think Ismail Darbar should be chucked out of the show.

I feel that there is some truth to these walk-ins and walk-outs. Artistes are known to be highly emotional, making small things affect them immensely. Instead of reacting violently, they simply choose to walk out as we see in these shows.

It is a complete publicity gimmick. Celebrity judges create controversies on the show only to promote themselves and their shows. What they do not realise is that such scenes only tarnish their image and that of the show too.

Darbar suffers from a phenomenon called 'attention crisis'. This is not the first time he has raised a hue and cry in the show. I think such incidents create an unconducive and bad creative atmosphere.Sa Re Ga Ma should get rid of him.

It is very shameful on part of the celebrity judges to throw tantrums. By doing so, they demoralise the contestants, who look upto them as role models.

Singing auditions held

Ludhiana, January 15: SANGAM Kala Group held singing auditions today in the auditorium of Government College for Women in which around 150 budding singers from the city participated.

Radhika Jaitwani, the organiser of the show, said the contest was held in three categories that is sub-junior: 5-12 years, junior: 12-18 years and senior: 18-25 years.



Shamshad Ali, lecturer of music at Punjabi University, Patiala; Des Raj, programme executive, Jalandhar Doordarshan and D.S. Narual, retired professor in vocal music, were the judges of the contest.

Noted personalities like Raj Chopra, Vijay Chopra of the Hind Samachar group, Lala Lajpat Rai, former MP, Ujjwal Munjal from the Hero family were present at the occasion.

Arshpreet the first runners-up of the Awaz Punjab Di contest and Sharib one of the seven finalist of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 regaled the audience with their songs. Till the filling of the report the results had not been announced.

Budding singer says sky is the limit

Ludhiana, January 15: SA Re Ga Ma Pa challenger Sharib had the music lovers swaying on his songs at the auditorium of Government College for Women here today. No doubt this 17-year-old singer made it to the final seven of the mega musical contest currently on at Zee TV.

Sharib belonged to the Jatin Lalit gharana called Dum but he claims he learnt from all the mentors namely Adesh Shrivastva, Ismail Darbar, Himmesh Reshamiya and Jatin Lalit.



''I had this junoon for music especially for the last two years and began training in classical music under Ustad Akram Sabri Sahib. I knew I had to make it somehow and then this challenge happened and my route from Jaipur, the place where I stay, to Mumbai, the city of my dreams, became shorter.'' Sharib has little regret that he is no longer in the contest, ''but though I am not in the finalists or that I am not the winner, yet what I got out to achieve is a place in the hard world of playback singing. I have already sung for Himmesh Reshamiya and soon my greatest dream is going to come true.'' Sharib will sing a duet with legendary Lata Mageshkar for a film which has music by Ismail Darbar.'' I am slighlty nervous for I will be singing with the Goddess of music herself yet am confident also for I have this different voice which makes me stand out.''

From the current contestants Sharib says his hot favourite who should be the winner is ''Hemachandra from Hyderabad for like me he too has an original voice. He should be the winner.'' Meanwhile, for this singer Sharib says, ''Sky is the limit. I come from an ordinary family and my dream is to give my parents the best in the world. I still cannot forget the day when I was given a diamond ring for a song while in Mumbai. I gave that ring to my mother and that was my first earning and my first gift to my parents,'' adds Sharib.
