Padma Shri (also spelt Padma Shree, Padmashree, Padma Sree and Padma Sri) is an award given by the Government of India generally to Indian citizens to recognize their distinguished contribution in various spheres of activity including the Arts, Education, Industry, Literature, Science, Sports, Social Service and public life. (The word "Padma" (Sanskrit) means "Lotus".)

It stands fourth in the hierarchy of civilian awards after the Bharat Ratna, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Bhushan.

I don't think acting is an art. Under art it should writers, directors (?) Journalists, painters, singers, classical singers. Acting is just doing what directors tell you to do, that is the reason all winners of beauty peagents become actresses. The filming of scene is extremely slow, it takes whole morning to just do one or two lines. There was scene of car driving out of the car parkade, near my office, and it took whole morning to film it. Acting doesn't qualify as Art per se.

Abt the rest I will say this "Jis ko jeetna thhaa woh toh jeet gaya. Ab jisey rona hai woh rota rahey, kee phark painda hai!" 😉 😆 This is the Panjabi in MOI ready to come out....
Disclaimer: Now no one should take offence...I am trying out the language so made reference... 😃

Dont be lost.😛 We were talking about Padma awards. If one can find THOSE to be relevant to the topic, then maybe one can understand why one line about MVC and PVC, other awards in India, is not that way out? Yes?😉

Yeah, But If you find a thread where points are always made immediately pertinent to the thread, let us know. Meanwhile, how's the Punjabi relevant here? I am sure we are all learning new things, but do we really have to know?😉😆

it's Punjabi by the way, not Panjabi.😛 I am sure that wasnt intentional so no offence taken.😛

To be honest I do like some of the Rahman's songs but the list is very small, Lagaan and Rang De Basanti dominate the list.

I love modern day singing of Shanker and totally agree with the following:

" From a heart-broken lover's despair in Tanhai to the flirty Pretty woman to the foot tapping Kajra re , Shankar Mahadevan's music transcends all moods and genres. His association with Ehsaan and Loy has been an invaluable gift to Bollywood with the trio churning out chartbusters by the dozen!
A confirmed foodie, a shop-a-holic, travel buff, this engineer turned musician is a self-confessed family man.

Currently on a roll, the talented Shankar chats on all things close to his heart."

Yeah, the proper filmi look is important. I can almost imagine Aish wiping off the sweat with her pallu. They do that in all the movies where the hero and heroine play ghar ghar. She's done cleaning up the place with the jhadoo, has gotten on to cooking, right when Abhishekh comes home after a hard day's work chopping wood, with Rs. 1 to show for his paseeney kee kamayee.😆 Scene like that deserves an Oscar😛

🤣LMAO...that Rs 1 of a hard day's work was hecka funny!!!!🤣

Ha ha thanks for enlightening MOI...Panju was edited to Panjabi and forgot to change A to U...Thanks for the insight...
Now how u say Patotoes or Alu... woh badal to nahi jaata na? Still is Potatoes na 😆
MVC, PVC, Padmashree, Padma bhusan or Bharat ranta had nothing to do with this topic either....What does Natl awards have to do with Global awards???? 😕 Again "gharelu pallu-bandh-kar-khana-banane-wali biwi" is being discussed here....😡👎🏼 Tell me who is lost not MOI...😳
May be you dont read all the post on previous pages...selective reading or old eyes giving up on you hai na 😉
By the way, the main point of the post was jisey jeetna hai woh jeet gaya, ab jisey rona hai woh rota rahey. Panjabi ho ya punjabi, kee pharak painda hai😊

sorry to get in the middle of the "laugh riot" but Ash is anything but a "gharelu bahu" you guys are having time of your lives laughing and making fun of..

she is married yes but she is still signing big prestigious movies..she signed Vishal Bhardwaj's movie just recently.. so sorry to ruin your fantasies about her sitting in her house cooking cleaning and being a stereotypical caricature of Indian married woman.. instead she is out there "working" like millions of independent successful married women who are more than capable of handling their business and personal lives, and don't focus on "serving" their husbands or in laws like that is their sole purpose in life..

and who says she doesn't deserve the award? it isn't a social awareness award..in her field she has been in top for years...starring in many box office and critical successes, breaking the mould of typical hindi "heroine" stereotypes.. doing movies in many languages and promoting Indian cinema all over the world.. and in the sexist Bollywood industry where women over the age of 30 and married are treated like outsiders and forced to leave their profession because of lack of offers, she is still getting offers from the likes of Mani Ratnam, Vishal Bhardwaj, Farhan Akhtar etc.. and you can hate her all you want and redicule her but you can't take away her achievements..

I have read every single post on this thread and came to the conclusion that crossroads7 and oldblackjoe are talking like two complete, clueless, low IQ, illiterate numskulls.
I have a feeling that it's actually one and the same person.

Chill... I found it rather funny to see someone describe her post marriage makeover so well, so couldn't resist laughing😆😆😆
btw, I don't see anything wrong in keeping the house clean, keeping a pallu, waiting for the hubby and when he comes be happy for his hard-earned money.. whats wrong or derogatory in doing that? Infact its quite Nobel, isn't it😊?

gosh i miss old school srgmp forum..mods were strict but at least the forum wasn't so chaotic..

Some are not Angry young man but bitter & grouchy old folks 😉 😆 Some are having midlife crisis 😛
I miss good old SRGMP days too..but what to do...we live with what we got 😳
