What you suggested may look good in theory but you can't put that in practice. The reasons being:

1) You can't possibly survey the universe, you have to take a sample population size whose profile and composition will match that of the universe. , it can become subjectve and lose all objectiviy in the process. what sample one takes depends, does it not??

Moreover, the agency who'll do the study will charge a fee based on the sample size, apart from several other things, so more reason to limit the sample size. arre IF and its owner are not lacking in material wealth are they?😆

And in any case 40% of the total traffic is really huge; yes agree

in actual surveys in real world it's much much less than that. therefore I am extremely skeptical about any surveys for this reason

Yes, larger the sample size closer the results will be, but in case of the present sample size of 40% there'll be very li'l deviation in results from what you'll get from the absolute universe. mmm not sure

However, I must add that the spread of the sample size is more important here than the actual sample size. you mean you can control the spread in a random fashion?

Since, IF have members from various countries who might have different ideas and requirements, it is important that 40% of the traffic for each hour should be surveyed and not just 40% of the traffic of the whole day. with varying time zones whole day sort of becomes an hourly feature does it not??

2) Secondly, what you suggested regarding making the survey a GA is not workable. Complete anonimity of the respondent is the first assurance that any market research provides, and you can't possibly breach that. oh come on!! I am sure the anonymity can be worked around by sending all answers to a different link!!

Moreover, what is even more important is that, as soon as the respondent will realise that his/ her responses can be seen by others, s/he will modify their answer to a more positive tone just to please others (even if s/he has some dissatisfaction with the site). why have such a thread in the first place?? 😕

I was looking for a thread ( it wa sposted more than a year back) the linked of which was posted in the SRGMP archive thread. Somehow, the hyperlink has disappeared but the title is still there. So I tried "search"ing for the thread using the title and I got a search result that said, "topic not found" . I went looking through the pages and guess what ???
