And in my head, its NaMan... As in a tribute... :P

And I won't mail Diyu-sa any choori shards. I am a very pyaari bachchi.

I know how Tejawat feels now, Oldestfan, as he watched hal his precious property and land swallowed up by an indifferently drawn line down the middle. Someone from outside came, to divide him from his whole country. Now, here we stand, you and I, across the great divide, each looking at what was once whole, once pure and united...our Hive Mind like agreement on all things Rangrasiya. Now, the CVs have divided us, you and me, opposite sides of what was once a great united front of Rudra drooling and giggling accord. There you stand, my erstwhile love, my other half, stubborn, yet beautiful as ever. For even as I love you, I cannot help it. I must prove you wrong. It hurts me, Oldestfan, like it hurt Tejawat, to struggle into those jodhpurs. But:

Ok...
Fake BSD, infiltrator, rogue BSD... Whats the difference?
Fakes... People who impersonate.

(and get caught at it--one picture, one BSD walo who knew the real Shantanu, and this one is done. And the balls, to come to a house containing TWo BSD walos? That's stretching my credulity too far. And I'm not even gonna BRING up Facebook...)
Infiltrators ... Part of a master plan... Have come in through the regular channels, worked on legit missions, fought in the field. But still, double agents.

(this one is a distinct possibility, actually--but then, he would be in touch with the whole Birpur unit of his terror-cell, of which Tejawat was king. Teju did say, actually, that he had reach into the BSD when he confronted Rudra for that first time, in Paro's village. But that would mean, Mala would have to see Shantanu enough to not just THINK he looks like someone)

Rogue... The ones who broke bad.

The day before Shanty got Paro all to himself in the kitchen, he stood spying on Rudra and Paro clinging together and said... i am going to play with you. I am going to make you say goodbye to
Paro, and more in that vein.

His intention is first to win trust, then make his move. This is all to drag out the whole track a bit, lets face it. But I think he asked Paro because he wants to slowly work in some guilt in her. He knew about the mission. He knows about Tejawat. He knows everything.

(I agree of course, with the fact that his intention is to hurt and maim, But if he knows everything about the Baraat, he would also know--there is nothing shameful about what Rudra did, at least from Paro's perspective. She was rescued, she married her rescuer. That makes her all kinds of s**tty -- but it also makes her, essentially, shameless. When she IS so shameless about Varun's death ---by marrying his killer, Rudra--- she is not capable of guilt. Why is he asking about how they met, the circumstances? If he knows already, and believes his version of the events, then all he'll get out of her is---she will either lie to him, and give him her ugly "Varun is NOT a Saint" version---or, alternatively, he does genuinely want to know, and asks her, for the first time, as she is tending to his injury.)

BTW-- Powerful stuff, that Kada she brews, Brings coma patients back to life absolutely fighting fit, ready to race off to month long sanyasans, and now makes psychopaths take a break from lurking in the shadows for pleasant conversations down memory lane...

The only thing he did not know was that Maala was the mother of Rudra. And Maala has seen him before, although he did not realize it. Remember he asked her... Recently Rudra was at a mission near the border, and you were there too, right... As she told him that Rudra saved her from the desh drohi pati, he tore the dupatta in rage. Not shock. Rage.

(The rage was the mention of Varun as Desh Drohi, right? I agree with how you saw the emotion--not shock, I totally agree. But the reason for the rage is where we differ. SIGH. Bholenath will fix this, this rift, I am sure. Maithli is praying hard as I type this, and I'm sure he'll look into you and me as well. One of us must give, what will happen to the children? So, Oldestfan--my rationale--- The rage could be imperfect understanding, too. If Shantanu knows the circumstances of Varun's death--that Rudra killed him, as a member of the Birpur Baraat, he surely already knows the story Rudra has then put about to hide his real motive (getting Paro)-- that VARUN amazing, dimpled, bara bhaiya Varun, is a terrorist! HIM! Rage could be, (and I interpret it as ) "how dare you stain the memory of the man you and your lover murdered by referring to him like this!! Whhoops, there goes your dupatta..." )

The only time hes ever been rattled is today when he got trapped in the Parud bedroom, with Paro in one of the kinkiest positions shes been in in a long time! His sudden improvisatoon was a stroke of genius.

( as was Rudra's, Baisa. As was Rudra's. Was that black patti his smelly sock, or does he have a silk-lined blindfold left over from aat saal haar raat? Either way--Paro Baisa is in for some really kinky, totally memorable good times--he goes for the handcuffs on the first try, too. Dum hai, banda mein. Good for her. she chose herself a DAMN fine, experienced banna.. Fifty Shades of Army Green coming right up, Bestseller list..)

Please dont go with the madman falling in love with Paro, Navin! 😭

( I wont, and I dont want to, honestly, its got the potential of turning SO cheesy--but the CVs totally will though...dekhna)

So now I have made my spiel about why Shantanu asked her why, ( mind games, essentially... What is her weak link? What will make her hate herself? What will make her want to die? To leave .rudra? )

I will return to his status. Mission, operations, terrorist groups also use those words. Giving yourself an identity and repeating it to yourself until you believe it... That is also common practice. Jason Bourne? The Saint?

hmmm...point.Though the first stick figure with dimples painted on the Haveli door, and Im leaving RR

If he is not a fake, he is still, most likely, an infiltrator, not a legit BSD guy gone rogue. And he kept in touch and was very close to, his brother. Whether he is on his own now, without backing from the terrorist group, he still is able to form temporary alliances with acid throwers et al, to delegate work.

So Navin dear, I am still going to hold out against him.

Unless of course, either Rudra takes a bullet for him. Or Paro saves him in some way. And he finds he cannot hate anymore. And those dimples get validated!

Those dimples got validated when he paired it with a baby blue tight tee and a hurt, wounded look. I spontaneously had twin babies, I swear...

Don't you think so?Even Rudra said that his behavior is not like a BSD officer. Calling himself as captain Kumar may be in a sarcastic way😲. Yeah its possible that he may not know the full story.

You know what? I never thought of that, actually-- though he does have orders from V K Singh to show Rudra, and perhaps he was hoping to frighten Paro one more time as a hooded stranger, and Rudra leaving threw him off.

To counter that though, we do have how he tracked Sunehri down right away (and that V K Singh checked into him, and confirmed his identity and his BSD track record). I think he was always planing to come into the Haveli, but maybe not so soon, and them moving forced him to come out of hiding and do his war directly from the inside--this is much riskier for him than being a stranger.

He started to establish the "trusted friend" routine with Suhneri immediately, which indicates he was planning his way into the house later on anyways, and simply moved up his plan to infiltrate the Haveli to deal with Rudra's sudden move.

I promised myself I would read the whole post before going to sleep for sure.

Regarding him being a BSD officer - When he started, I was so SURE that he assumed an identity. That he wasn't actually Shantanu. Because, how could an army man have a terrorist brother across the border? That did not seem to make sense to my mind, and it somehow still doesn't.

But the thing is, as days go by, he is becoming more and more concrete as an Army guy. The way he talks, the way he walks, it is becoming glaringly obvious that he is in BSD.

Regarding him not knowing anything about PaRud - Please please please. I did not want to read that. You know why? Because that is making absolute sense and that is what I had thought when he had questioned her, "aapne unse shaadi kyaa soch ke ki?"

And in that moment, he had a genuinely curious expression. He seemed completely befuddled, as if wanting to know.

Which is scary. Because as soon as he starts seeing Paro and Rudra for who they are, it is VERY much possible that he will end up falling for Paro. Falling for the serene calm ocean that she is.

And lord knows that I am the jealous type when it comes down to a third wheel in PaRud (Ohh how giddy with delight my fiancee would be if he saw me typing this sentence. I am so NOT the jealous type in my own relationship and he keeps on cribbing about that. And here, I am dumbly getting jealous over fictional third wheels in a fictional couple. Sigh.)

Working Alone - Ohh definitely with you on this one too.

Thakur Param Singh Tejawat is a completely different kind of maniacal villain than our Shantanu Kumar.

Tejawat is cold. Tejawat is manipulative. And Tejawat never EVER is driven by PASSION. He wants power. He wants obedience. He wants people to kneel to his rule.

But never will he go in for revenge. And that too in this level of vendetta that Shantanu seems to carry with him.

What I think, is that this Shantanu is a man who likes... no loves to live in delusions.

Maybe like Mala is, but on a higher, crazier level. He maybe denied his whole life that his brother was anything other than a Devta. And maybe his brother even was a Devta to him.

That is how he ended up in Army maybe. Cuz his brother, a fake smiling bas***d, was all honey coated to him and fed him idiotic bullshit all his life so that Shantanu idolized him and prayed the land that he walked on.

Something like the Tejawat-Mala case... But just a bit more creepier.

Awesome post.
Very well written.
Shantanu truly can be a force to reckon with especially for Rudra and your right if CV's play this right his character can last a lot longer then Laila's did.

These lines

"If this Shantanu track is done right-- he can then be the Rudra in the mirror. The darker shadow of Rudra's hate, the darker version of Rudra's own obsessed love"

pretty much sums up your entire thesis...bang on...yes if this track is done right it will be the revival of RR...Hoping and fingers crossed..

Lovely analysis...But I feel too that Rudra is on to Shantanu. He cut him short when he as giving his explanation of what happened in the BR. Also Rudra coolly leaving Shantanu in charge of Paro's safety and going to the border? That's soo unbelievable!!
