WHY so HUE-&-CRY about TRP when we CANNOT contribute even if we WANT TO?

Friends, can anyone tell me in detail how TRP is measured and calculated in India? To the best I know based on my interaction [which I just had a few minutes ago] with one of my uncles in 'Television Advertising Industry' in India, and some online articles, TRP calculation is done based on a small sample of audience [Sample size is 12000-15000 television sets], on whose Television sets a device [looks similar to set-top box]called 'PEOPLE METER' is installed to track and measure what they watch !!! So, if rating agencies have installed 'People Meter' on your television set in your house, then you would know about it [It is not a hidden activity] !!! And, if it is NOT installed in your house, then it doesn't matter whether you watch your favorite shows on TV or internet or wherever.. as you are not contributing to TRP calculation !!! If any of you know that there is a TECHNIQUE which considers all Television sets in INDIA for measuring TRP and that technique is used currently then please let us all know !!! However, I'm 99% sure there is no other technique 'coz I'm providing you first hand information from a person in the TELEVISION AD INDUSTRY !!!

P.S. If 'People Meter' is installed on your TV then PLEASE watch on TV itself !!! Else, let us all keep watching RR wherever it is convenient to us, but at the same time keep popularizing it on Twitter, FB etc... I think that's the best we can do !!! TRP is not in our control..
