Like Sush said, there is a difference between criticizing and bashing; sometimes there is a thin line between the two and I agree it's not nice at all when certain fans make posts to either bash the female character or the male character. I personally don't know why the female character or male character are blamed for their actions as if they are actual people, if we have a problem with a character we should criticize the CVs/writers/producer(s), even the editors and directors maybe.
I have no qualms in admitting that I have made posts criticizing the CVs/writers, and whenever I have criticized the characters I have criticized them and have refrained from bashing them (my apologies if I have ever ended up bashing), but I think a problem here is that many people don't know the difference between 'criticizing' and 'bashing'. Most of us here have a favourite character, whether it is because we actually like the character or we just like the actor who plays the character is another story, but the fact of the matter is that many of us here have an edge for either Rudra or Paro. Therefore, when we view the show, we are already looking at it from our own limited, biased perspective...if I am a Rudra fan I will be less critical of Rudra, if I am a Paro fan I will be less critical of Paro, there is a saying that says "love is blind"...well, love literally makes you blind (even if it's love for a fictional character)...Because we love a certain character more, we will be more willing to ignore their faults or brush certain actions done by them under the carpet...but we will view all other characters with a critical eye...because we are not a dumb audience after all...we only let ourselves be dumbed down when it comes to people we love...we only see the best in those we love...so it makes sense that some people are focused on criticizing (or bashing) one lead and not the other lead...it makes sense but it's wrong...if we want to criticize - we should not bash, that has been established already I hope - we should attempt to be fair and view the entire show from an objective lens...I am sure if you see problems with one character, there are definitely problems with another characters as well...so criticize all the characters if you genuinely have a problem with characterization...and realize that it is the writers who are responsible for the way characters act...you cannot bash a character just because you feel that the character is behaving wrongly or in an irrational manner...in fact, you can't bash the writers either (not if you want to be taken seriously) and so we should just stick to criticizing...the problem is far too many of us have clouded judgements and we make these posts in a very emotional state...I am guilty of this too...so what we need is a reality check...
And your post is definitely a reality check. We all need to take a step back from everything...from this forum, from the show, from our laptops/computers...and just think for a moment. While it's good that we are emotionally invested in RR, we need to realize that...well...Rudra and Paro are fictional characters. Let's pop the bubble...Parud are fictional characters belonging to an Indian drama...we can't expect the characters to be 100% in characterization (though I do believe sometimes writers lose focus and if they can't stick to proper characterizations the least they can do is make characterizations believable)...In RR both Rudra and Paro's characterizations are being played with for the sake of the story. If both Rudra and Paro weren't dumbed down (I don't say 'dumbed down' in a malicious manner, pardon me I can't think of any other way to say it) then the Laila track would not be possible. And the Laila track needs to happen because unfortunately the show needs high TRPs and the makers need to attempt to attain high TRPs no matter what...if the characterizations of Rudra and Paro need to be sacrificed, then let it...if the story needs to be sacrificed, then so be it...we can't blame the makers either, though it is very disappointing.
Thank you for the reality check. I know that I definitely needed it and I am sure others appreciate it as well. I believe that we should always accept our flaws because after acceptance comes the desire to change...so I thank you for pointing out that we should not take RR and Rudra and Paro so seriously...they are just characters...and while it is unfortunate that the characters and story is being sacrificed for TRPs, it is inevitable and I for one will attempt to not take things so seriously from now on. If this track is boring me or annoying me (Laila is just so UGH), I will just remind myself to not take it so seriously...if I can't help it, if I still continue to feel tired of the story, I will take a break from the show...it's not a big deal.
Once again, thank you. I envy your ability to laugh off problems with the story, problems with the characters, problems on the forum, etc. 😊 I definitely need to learn a thing or two from you! Hopefully this post of yours maintains the effect it has had on me...a much needed reality check.
P.S. Sorry for the long response.
P.P.S. I would just like to add that no matter how much we detest it when others bash a character on the forum (they may not even be bashing but because we are biased we may think they are bashing), we should never stoop to their level and begin to bash THEM. Why get personal?? What's the point of hurting or taunting or insulting a real life person - a person who will most likely read your comments - for a character, or even for an actor or actress?? If you have a problem with someone who is making questionable posts, report them. You are in no way a better person if you taunt a person who taunts a character (or even an actor or actress). See the vicious cycle??...just be the bigger person, it's not that hard...and if it is, it shouldn't be...
